SoCalTacos love your truck. Hope mine sounds good. Its going to have a few cool ideas that will set it apart a bit I hope everyone will like. And also it will be the lack of sound (dynamat, dynamat, dynaliner) that contributes a large part of the cost! Anyone know how to upload pics from my phone? Droid RAZR. Only have a work computer and its a pain lol

I have about 2 grand into mine. Some of it better than others..haha..my amps are the weak link IMO, MTX 90x2 and Jensen 300x2. I'm sure the Jensen doesn't put out that much anyway, plus they are both 12 years old. I plan to buy better ones in the future but I can't justify replacing them when they work just fine right now.

I've been doing car audio on my own since I was about 18, plus the benefit is you can just hop it from one vehicle to the next. I had one enclosure that was in every car I had from age 19 to 34, for instance.

I feel the same way about a lot of things.
I paid around $350 for my AV receiver and $150/pair for the 6 surround speakers... maybe $200 for the sub.
More than adequate, sounds great, louder than I should run it in my condo.

Yet guys will spend $10-$20k on a home theater system.

I don't think there's $20k in the systems at the AMC.

I'm doing a large stereo in my truck because it's what I like... sad that I have to explain that to some of you. If you read the rest of the thread you'll see I didn't spend that much money either, I get discounts and I posted the retail price. This thread is in the newbie section yeah.. Im new. Ive been here not even a week. Either way I dont care if it never leaves I'm doing a few things to my truck and thats what we are all here for anyway. Sorry everyone for the delay in pictures, Im having a hell of a time uploading anything. Only have a work computer and it has a ton of restrictions. And my phone wont let me. idk but Ill figure it out somehow. So far I have the bed speakers cut and mounted, the roof and 2 front doors done and back together. (dynamat, dynaliner, and speakers/crossovers mounted.) Starting on the rear doors now. I work 2 jobs so only have about 2 hours or so after work to get anything done. sucks.

It's good to learn new things too and especially this is your field. I'd love to have 3k to buy servers & hardwares for virtualization at home so I can learn and hands on

Knock yourself out man. Do it yourself and document the labor. Nice stereos are cool. It's not like the you're talking about blowing that much coin on a locomotive horn who's ONLY purpose is to be obnoxious.

But hater's gonna hate. My only word of advice, that I'd give to *anyone* is not to list your email address in your public profile.

No I'm just doing one set of speakers in the bed for parties and when I go to the lake or camping. They are the kicker km6500 waterproof speakers. I'll have a seperate volume knob mounted in the bed for them as well as a pioneer wired marine remote in the bed. All hidden in that storage pocket below the speaker. The rear speakers will come on when the tailgate is opened. One of the different ideas I had. There are a few that will be cool hope you all like them

Looking forward to what you've got cookin :D Before TW I was a nerd over at Head-fi.org... Audio can be expensive and its definitely not a linear correlation between performance and cost as you get to the top, which so much of is snake oil anyways ;) Think 5k is alot, you can buy headphone rigs for 20k...
    Git er done Dustin :D

Question!! I assume the small module under that bracket beneath the driver seat is for the airbag. It says warning: do not change the location of this unit. Well.... I need it moved for one of my amps it has to go. Anyone able to tell me if I can just move it but keep its orientation facing the same way and it will still work properly? Also what does this do and what's the danger of moving it? Thanks!!!. (Tiny black cube about 1" x 1" with a single plug running to it. Black loom, not yellow. Located under the carpet beneath the driver seat concealed by a metal bracket bolted to the floor)
