Welcome to the 21st century. I always say if you don't like the laws, then vote or get involved to change them, instead of complain. THAT is how laws are made: People take the time to fight for change. This is Mericah after all! lol.

Spent eight years as a "law officer" and never had a ticket overturned and got lots of cooperation from the community.

The officer did not hand you the ticket? Did not discuss the reason for the ticket? I firmly believe that a person has the right to be confronted by his accuser. The first level is a simple verbal discussion (not confrontation) about the behavior. There should be a reason to refrain from the action or a good reason to continue the action. I parked on an incline in a NM park and the ranger questioned my reason and I pointed out the battery was dead and I needed a rolling start to leave. He stated, "I'll be back at ten a.m. to jump start your truck if the roll fails." Next level is a documented warning or ticket if damage has occurred. If done well the ticket/warning is channeled to recordkeeping and to enforcement so signs can be posted if the infraction is occurring often enough to warrant the expense of placing a sign. Last resort is a ticket. An arrest is not worthy of a parking ticket, but behavior about the ticket can be. Never had to go that far.

Not professional conduct on his part IMHO, but then CA is not Mayberry.

Keep fishing. That is one nice truck.:) I like the doors on the side of the cap. Convenient and secure.

Unless they decide to transform that parking lot into a subdivision, then by all means bulldoze it because it will bring in tax revenue. :D

Op got a ticket and is upset, I get it. We all get upset by them because this is a natural reaction right... sucks having to dish out money for a ticket. He was on a trail out and about a decided to do something which turned to be a bad idea, I think we have all done this.

I've parked off the trail before simply because sometimes you have to (i.e. got to pee and can't wait to find an appropriate spot to park).

Op this is just a Live and Learn thing, all you can do is move on. The ticket sucks for sure, but put yourself in the Rangers shoes. Perhaps you would have given a ticket too because you get tired of seeing guys do things like this and its frustrating/unsafe.

Sorry for the ticket, but it is what it is. I get the venting though

So now for some reason I'm thinking about how Jeffrey Dahmer as a kid would kill the animals that roamed around behind his grandmother's house then put their heads on spikes in the back yard.

Mehh... those are only squirrels and raccoons and such. Boys will be boys. No harm done.

So he grows up and cuts up young gay men and eats their body parts. But this time he keeps the heads in the kitchen freezer so he can boil them later.

    Dang never saw that comin'.

Shoulda nipped it in the bud when they saw that first squirrel head. Fo sho.

    *sigh*

After reading this comment - and every other in this thread.

The same thing has been said over and over and over and over again in different ways each time with the writer thinking they bring new advice to the table. Holy peanut factory in here.

Do you know what Ed Gein said about women?

No, serial killer, Wisconsin, the '50s.

"When I see a pretty girl walking down the street, I think two things. One part wants me to take her out, talk to her, be real nice and sweet and treat her right."

And what did the other part think?

"What her head would look like on a stick... "

Let's go park on that hill.

    wut

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
Next time, be sure to keep this in your truck to mark your territory before leaving.

That's not a normal designated spot, I'd give you a ticket for parking like a jackass which you have clearly done.

Far from asanine - Go look up "Broken Window Theory"
If there are rules/laws for petty type items that are not enforced, it leads to a normal, documentable regression into violations of greater frequency or magnitude. I know this doesn't take into account alws/rules that you hate or disagree with...but there is a process for that which involves more than breaking them every chance you get.

Is the OP going to become an instant super villan or person-eating homosexual...Nope. But his parking job might inspire a few others to pull the same stunt some other time...and then a few more...and so on and so on, until the spot is closed because the tree huggers see it and have a fit.

That theory applies for inciting others to the same level of misdeed and to increasing number or type of personal action.
Maybe the story was a bit intense, but the premise applies.
