^A fine cut polish should level it out a bit.

Probably residue from the badge tape. Keep working the Goo Gone with a microfiber towel to remove all the residue. If you need to purchase some more produce try Goof Off.

Be very careful with a gas blower. I have heard some blow small amounts of gas/oil out of the blower, and you don't want that on your freshly washed truck. I don't know if that is possible, but it something to look out for.

That might be why he got a small electric blower which would work fine for that.

Is that adhesive from the badge tape? If so you need to keep working the Goo Gone into the adhesive with a soft microfiber towel. I have never seen Goo Gone eat the paint off of a vehicle.

First off thanks for starting this thread, I followed it step by step and my truck looks great! I washed, clay, polished, waxed, and sealed it using everything that you recommended over the counter. My hood has what I thought were water spots that dont come off. I washed them and clay bared and polished the hood and there still there. They dont feel like there water spots, but they dont feel like there in the finish what should I try? There only on the hood.
    Jared
You can kinda see the spots in the hood here. There hard to get a pic of but you can see them around the sun spot.

Here is the side it still looks pretty good after two weeks with rain and daily driving. You can see a tundra off of it.

Here is the hood all beaded up I think it looks great, water just used to run right off.

First nice job. The marks you are asking about could be a hard water spot. What was your procedure when you polished the hood?

I don't remember exactly but I followed the directions on the meguiars scratch x 2.0 and it worked everywhere but the hood, but maybe the body didn't have hard water spots anywhere else. What the real magic worker was is the clay magic. I was amazed at how well that took off tar, sap, etc.

Scratch X works well for most problems. Did you really put your body weight on to the pad with the Scratch X to remove the spots of did you just use light hand pressure? Do not be afraid to use your body weight and really work the product.

I pushed fairly hard and was a bit nervous with the hood because I could se and hear it bend under my weight but it would pop back up. I posted a better pic where you can kinda see the spots around the sun spot.

Machine polish will get rid of those. Somethings just cannot be gotten out by hand.

Are their any instructions on caring for the microfibers & wash mitts. This thread appears pretty damn thorough, so I feel like I must have missed it.

Thank you for the thread OP.

Such as an electric buffer? If so I have one and will have to try it.

Sounds like you did it correctly. If you have access to a buffer you might try that. Sometimes the hard water spots only come out with a buffer.

Buy some microfiber towel cleaner. The product linked below does work halfway decent. Do not wash with a conventional detergent. Add a cup of vinegar during the rinse cycle. Dry on a permanent press setting. Do not wash with other clothes.

Pretty decent sale over at Autogeek.
