i'm new at this stuff so i'm drawing simple pictures in CAD to understand the concepts of backspace, offset, etc.

i understand the wheel width is the inner size of the rim, and the offset is measured from the outside of the rim flange. i also understand everything can be off by a few millimeters.

i am looking at the Stealth 6 rims. they are going to stick out almost a whole 2" - not to mention a little more bubbling due to the 265/70/17.

i know i may need to remove or trim my front mudflaps.

please help me understand, is the above correct and will they really fit?

    ?

I currently have BFG All Terrains, 265/70/17 on a 06 with no lift. My suspension would be quite tired (100k miles) as well. I had to trim the inner fender as well as the mudflaps, and it will ever so slightly touch the cab mount under the right conditions (slight incline in reverse with wheel fully turned).

You should be able to run 265/75/16 or 265/70/17 on stock wheels. I'm not sure what you have though 5 lugger ect. And I'm not sure about those wheels either. I'm not too good at off set/back space my self

I believe 265/65/17 is stock tire size. The issue here is the offset of the rim, by sticking it out 2" the outer edge of the tire has a wider turning radius (by 2 inches) this cause it to come much closer to the front and back of the wheel well when fully turned.

yes, the 65 is stock, i want to step up the 70's i've read about here.

trying to edu-macate myself with this stuff.

also, some times online stores don't let you sort by "what fits your vehicle" - you have to straight-up select offset, backspace, etc. and i need to learn what fits.

    e.g. - SummitRacing.com

I'd say go for it, I was hesitant to but the trimming took all of 30 minutes of checking and trimming, repeat. I'm considering re-doing my suspension with upgraded stuff (OME+Dakars) but I get many compliments on the look as is. (No lift, SCS Stealth 6s and 265/70/17 BFG AT)

The Stealth 6 with 265/70/17 will fit with no lift as long as you remove your mudflaps and do a little bit of trimming. For daily driving, you might get an occasional rub on the cab mount every now and then. If you plan to off-road, definitely do the CMC mod. Jerry from BAMF sells precut plates that will the job a breeze.

    fascinating, thanks for the info.

i don't plan to do any heavy off roading, just a truck trail every now and then and snow in the mountains.

based on price, these wheels are at the top of my list.

The wheel may be wider than stock, but the tire isn't. With the Stealth 6, your tire will stick out 40 mm or 1.6" more than stock.

You can try Huskyliner flaps which hug the fender liner better, providing more tire clearance. Mine with Konig Countersteer wheels (0 mm offset):

FWIW, I run 265 70 BFG AT's on the Stealth 6 with a 3" lift. My flaps have been bitten and detached by the tires when driving in adverse deep snow conditions.
