i quit trying to dig thru old threads to find my answer. Is it possible to put aftermarket speakers in without the damn mounting brackets from ********* or whoever. I just cant justify the extra coin for a damn bracket. :/

Lots of vehicles are like that. But, everything I see here people are using brackets or don't mention anything about the fit.

Is it just me or have those knuckleheads on the east coast been stirring up TW lately? They probably are jealous at how good the water tasted here

I know about his stuff. Only downside is using the mdf. But now that I know I have to use a bracket, ill get em. You know the maximum depth of speaker useable?

I just used the shit stock speaker surrounds as a mount.. Cut the old speaker out, trimmed the plastic slightly with a dremel.. Then RTV'd the OEM plastic ring to my Alpine 6 x 9s. Worked great.

Question about registering out of state vehicle in Oregon.... Is there a state "safety inspection" that I would have to go through? I'm curious if o mud flaps and a high clearance rear would present any issues. Will be living in the Hood River area.

Nope. Oregon doesn't care unless you are in Portland

Maximum allowed distance without flaps is around 28". On our trucks your fine.

Like I said, Oregon doesn't really care. Plus, no inspections on anything unless you live in the Portland area.

Not sure what you have against mdf unless you plan on submerging your door.
Jeverich's idea is good in a pinch (on my Honda I just used pressboard since I was a dumb college student, it worked). I just wanted to do it up right so I did the Marv stuff and added the RAAMmat as well.

I don't have measurements, I haven't been up on the audio stuff since 2008.

The mdf overtime will fail, maybe a long while from now but it will. That's my only issue. My truck gets bounced around bad it the fields and i dont want to risk them failing while bouncing around. I may be just over cautious, lol

So, I am trying to decide between TX and OR.

    Both states have their +/-

OR has my vote though, but then again.. I am a little biased
