Why is "he wants to take a gun to Starbucks because he can" not a good enough reason for you?

What if you're in starbucks one day, just sipping your joe, and someone comes on and robs the place, somebody does something stupid and the robber starts stabbing/shooting people? Would you feel more comfortable with a gun in that situation?

Living your life based on a 0.0001% chance of something happening is a little ironically paranoid, dontcha think?

you should just park you car and never drive since the chances you will get in a accident are more likely than the situation you are proposing. I love guns however, not getting to take your gun into a store for a few mins is paranoid no matter how you put it...

So what if i'm paranoid? how does it hurt you?
I'll tell you one thing, if that .0001% does happen, my chances of living just skyrocketed compared to yours.

makes sense because it's easier to hop the border and buy a car with no insurance and no license in our country than to legally own a gun!

There is zero basis to make that assumption.

Besides, I never said it hurt me in any way. I'm just making the point that, statistically speaking, paranoid.

I carry into Starbucks almost every day. Always concealed, but I do it because I take the bus and I can't leave my sidearm in the truck.

    yes
Look at mexico, 13.04 murders per 100,000 residents (2004) vs
    US 5.62 murders per 100,000 residents (2004)

Mexico has a ban on guns yet their murder rate is twice the murder rate of the US, explain that.

I remember working the night shift in South Central as a civilian with the Sheriff's Dept for almost three months. Awesome time! I had a bulletproof vest, yes, but it was when some resident told me that I was still an idiot for being there that I thought she might be right. I also had no problems walking away from the Sheriffs, in darkness, by myself, in gang territory (all of it is), and still feeling not necessarily safe but somewhat secure. Odd. No one attacked me, knifed me, or even called me names. Didn't need my gun then even when some dude ran at me with a revolver, and the odds were stacked against me in those situations. I suppose I now play the odds that the mean streets of NoHo won't be looking for bloodshed when I stop at Yum Yum Donuts.
