I was talking about this with work people today. from growing up in RI i thought every elementary school bus did this, but I guess it's only a RI thing.

It's so stupid. The kids are smart I'm pretty sure they won't crawl under a bus they know is going to move.

Kids take busses and they stop at every house here. Hell I had to walk a mile in the snow in middle school

Exactly. I can see it if it's 6-7 year olds, there are some sick fucks in this world. But high school, WTF??? I had to walk a mile if my mom wasn't around to get me at the bus stop.

I bought it from a guy in RI who was selling because he had too many collectible cars in his garage. And he did...he showed me a 1934 Ford with that canopy over the top. The paint was creme colored. Just amazing.

He put the GTO convertible up for sale, and I went down to see the car. He was funny: "I have this GTO for sale, which I love, and I hate to sell it, but my wife thinks I have too many cars, and she doesn't like the GTO because it's too fast. She wants me to keep the '64 Buick Skylark."

Jesus pleasus, I was on my own with the bus from the first day of first grade. It drives me INSANE that today's buses stop every 20 feet to pick up kids.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
The kids on my 1/2 mile dirt road all stood at the end and waited. Rain, sun, snow, rich or poor.

It's no wonder they join the Army fat and incompetent, leave basic and AIT fat and incompetent, and I have to raise them. SMH.

How do kids join the Army fat and incompetent? I thought they have strict entry standards these days. But I get the bus stop thing. When I was a kid you walked a pretty long way to the bus stop. And if you missed the bus, you walked to school.

Oh wow... what a gigantic waste of money

Did you have to walk a mile, barefoot, in the snow, uphill, both ways? :D

You wonder where they get it from, the MBTA buses stop every block or so also on some routes. If adults can't waddle their fat little asses more than a block, god forbid you make the kids do it!

I fucking hate getting stuck behind busses.

I used to walk 2 miles to school and back from 6th to 9th grade

Same for me. If I wasn't walking, I was on a bicycle. Everyone is just lazy these days.

We should be teaching the kids criminals with firearms are bad, not the firearms themselves.

I'm also not liking all of the "We're protecting you from yourself" fines these days either.

It is the parents who complained about how their kids could get hit if they had to walk down the road to a general collection bus stop. Annoys the shit out of me - if I leave my house 5 minutes late, I will certainly be late to work due to one school bus.

The drivers never even seem to pull over and let the line of cars go by anymore.

When I was in school, I had to walk five minutes down the road to get picked up, there was at least 10 kids all waiting at one stop. Now every house gets a special pick up where 1 kid gets on with mom waiting and watching in the door way (these are high school kids to boot). My mom would watch me leave from the couch with a "bye, have a good day".
