Mexican food with actual spicy food. Or just a good hometown place. I love the mom and pop places way better than chain stuff. Any recommendations would be awesome. And a good sports bar! Gotta watch me some football. Lol

lol nope. ill start that shit once im done with school and have a steady job. The amount I could actually put away is not enough to bother with, and is better spent on me enjoying my 20s.

 

I still have money..just no spending it all.

And you of all people I'd figure would have saved money. We did a calculation once in my calc class in high school and 1000 buck one year sooner over like 35 years in those special retirement accounts was a crap load of money.

 

ironic huh? but to me, after school of course, the most important thing for me right now is having fun and enjoying the best years of my life. The way I see it, some smart investments in my late 20s and 30s can off set the 10000 or so I would be able to save up in my early 20s if i only put away 1000 a year. so i might as well have fun with that money the way i want to

smart investments can't make up for the compounding interest not being taken advantage of now. Monte is right, the difference is substantial.

so if i somehow came up with 10000 now, and earned 6% compounding for 10 years, that a gain of 7000, is it a lot, ya i guess 7000 is a lot, but in the scale of a retirement fund...thats not much at all. Like I said, that 7000 can be made up a lot quicker further down the line with some good investing. Just depends on how you play it.

 

If Mark can get his CPA and Ben and I can get our PE's I don't think money will be too big of a concern for for us. Hell my wife will have her doctorate in less than a year and will be making decent money herself.

So in this case, I'm with Mark! A little backup fund is a good idea but as for investing I would rather enjoy my 20's now and start saving up later. Besides you can't take your money with you when you die.

 

Where the fuck are you going to find 6% easily? Haha. Last my wife checked 15 year CD's were about 1% and playing it safe in the stock market is around 3% or so last I knew.

 

think im worried about that 7000 in a retirement plan in 40 years? hell no haha i wanna mod my truck and go wheeling!

 

i have nothing against living now and enjoying it. But saving a little bit is nice..especially if shit hits the fan some how.

I mean come on guys...look how much i have spent on Frank in 3 years..its over 12k in mods i think...../repairs...

 

mutual funds can net that, a bond to can mature well...but then again, neither a mutual fund or a government bond are sure fire bets haha. I dont really trust either of them, i might even trust the mutual fund over a government bond.

 

Yeah, I'm not saying I don't have a savings fund I'm just not investing at the moment.

 

yes, saving for an emergency and having a back up is a good idea. but putting away 10000 for retirement because you want to accumulate some minuscule amount of interest at a time of your life when money is not plentiful is just not at the top of my priority list.

Exactly! I took engineering econ last semester and he talked to us about some if it. Hell if I remember right he would always tell us that if we found a secure investment that netted over 3% to let him know. Interest rates blow right now...
