    back to bone stock.
any 2005's running the stock OEM battery?

i checked mine out of my 2006. load tested it. it is not perfect, but okay. i think i will go into 2014 with it. maybe my first run into sub freezing temps will kill it in january. but i am hopeful. 8 years..i am close!

anyone else out there with a battery with crazy strength?

I don't get more than 2 years, max 3 years out of a battery. I am probably on my 4th one in my 2002. I have tried different brands and different grades, but it does not make much difference. I have to add that these are just regular wet cell batteries from Advance Auto or Walmart, similar to the OEM - not any fancy red tops.

I'm not a 2nd gen, but the battery right now in my truck right now, according to my brother-in-law, was last replaced in 2004.

Going on 5 years with mine. The dealer always says it's at a fail state at the last 3 state inspections. I'm getting some corrosion so I think it may be time to get a new one.

Bought an 06 4 runner in Dec 2005. It's still has the original battery. It's been tested and not perfect, but it is still running.

I thought my 09 was toast the other day, but the indicator on
the battery was still green...turned out to be a little corrosion
on the Negative Terminal. So cleaned that up and she started strong again,
but i was surprised that so little contamination caused it to not start.

So check your negative term on occasion and keep it clean.
A little corrosion/buildup can interrupt the negative side.

btw, does anybody know who actually makes the OEM battery
or are they only dealer available?

    Thx,
    PC

I got about 5 years on the OEM battery. It was doing OK when it was replaced but was showing signs of weakening and I was heading into winter so I didn't want to chance it.

Wonder if the heavy duty battery that comes with the tow package lasts longer than the non-tow pkg.....

on my '12 (with the tow pacakage) my battery lasted 38,000 miles :frusty:. just over a year. Now on my old 02' first gen i only used 2 batteries in 10 years and the original lasted 6 years. And that had an amp for a sub and lots of hours playing music for parties and some hard mud ridding/jump starting some buddies in need.

I thought about that but ended up getting a good deal on an Optima so I went that route.

I still have the original one and mine is a 2006. It seems to be still going strong but it seems like I'm on borrowed time now.
