I like that I'm seeing people wise up to the idea that linking your dd is just dumb. If you want something that handles like that in the desert, get a good job and a beater. Build on beater and maintain a dependable daily driver.

The spool, lack of a/c and heat and noise with zero interior is why I don't like my linked yota as a DD. Has nothing to do with the links. In fact, on the street, it really doesn't handle much different then it did on 62's. The spool is the biggest change in handling on the streets. Actually my truck is a blast to drive on the streets and handles great. Just the squealing tires in parking lots and dirty looks from everyone is the annoyance.

I was going to say the same, no idea what links have to do with it. If you really have a problem with your truck swaying in corners you better check your vagina for sand. :D I kinda sorta DD a linked truck, as long as it has AC and a radio im fine. I ride my supermoto 90% of the time.

Has nothing to do with the links as much as it does that most people here so not have a dependable dd AND a toy. Sure we all want that built up toy to be our dd as well, but anyone with half a brain cell and at least one toy dd under their belt knows it's not wise.

Sway bar made mine just that much more fun on the street landon, if you don't have one, add it to the list, you won't regret it! LOL

My daily driver is a 22 y/o explorer on 35s, 4WD, widened front end, coilovers and bumps up front, deavers and bypasses in the rear with lockers front and rear. In all honesty, I'd actually rather drive my toyota as a DD if it had a nice interior, A/C and heat! It gets better MPG then my expo does, more power, handles better, etc... But the exploder is super comfy so it's my DD.

Point being, I don't have a regular DD, all I have is Toy A or Toy B to choose from as my DD. Linking a truck has nothing to do with it's dependability. My toyota has never ever ever once left me stranded! Only time it's EVER been on a trailer was from Shell Reef back to camp over in Truckhaven and that was only cause I didn't have the tools in the truck to diagnose an electrical issue. Got it back to camp and fired it up 20 minutes later and ran the rest of the weekend.

My entire life I've always owned 2 cars. I happen to just own two toys now.

I have nothing rational in my driveway these days... Funny part is the KTM isn't in this shot, it's hiding in my trailer.

My "dependable DD" does this on the weekends and in the evenings. It actually was in the dirt last night for 2+ hours rescuing a jeep that was stranded...

I get your point but saying you can't DD a linked truck but I disagree cause I would gladly take my yota over the expo as my daily driver if the interior was more friendly and icing on the cake would be to pull the spool out and slip in detroit or push button locker that was more street friendly.

I got a DD simply because I didnt want to be stranded for work on Monday when my truck decides to break over the weekend or having to finish every fix or mod before I got to bed that night so I can drive to work the next day. I still prefer to DD my truck over my tC, but it saves wear and tear.

Aren't most of you guys driving newer latest gen yotas? Are you really having reliability issues and driving them so hard that you're breaking them and can't rely on them as DD's? My truck is fun, it's fast, it's pretty damn smooth yet it's not a TT so I don't pretend and drive it like one either. It's allowed me to drive it home every time... Is that really actually hard to do? I'm likely starting my next pretty substantial upgrade on it next week that has possibility of snowballing a bit even with it for sale and that's just going to allow me to drive it that much harder, yet I still will drive it in a way that know it's gotta get me home still.

I've wrecked my taco a few times in the dirt where I had to be towed home. Not mechanical failures, more driver error.

I picked up an 01 4Runner originally as my DD while my truck is getting caged and 3 Linked but just traded it in on an 07 Tahoe thats 100x more comfortable to DD, gets better mileage, lower miles and can tow the truck around if I absolutely needed to. I didnt need two toys either and I knew if I kept the 4Runner I would only end up dumping more money into it and never using it for the intended purpose.

My Tacoma has never left me stranded but I would like to start keeping the miles off it and like Aaron said its nice knowing that getting to work on Monday morning is never in question because your truck broke that weekend.

The Toyota parts are holding up just fine. Its the aftermarket stuff that I keep breaking/changing.

I have a DD but I'm never home to drive it... does that count?
