    Kyle LOVES off roading (and camping). It's the only time he gets to ride shotgun with me. But even if he's in the back seat he loves it.

    Just a thought. While it isn't necessary having a CB just makes it more fun. I have the one in my runner and a hand held that I always bring incase someone doesn't have one.

    So if you're on the fence I say go for it. You can pick up a radio, coax and antenna for about 80 to 90 bucks.

    Wow, I have the radio and the antenna. I just need the mounting bracket, coax, and antenna mount (and someone with an SWR meter, possibly Nammer) and it's still going to cost me about $80. Plus, there is absolutely no good spot to conveniently mount the radio (a Cobra 25, so it's not huge). Right now, the only useable spot I've found is screwed to the roof reinforcement through the headliner beside the dome light. Not ideal, but it's mostly out of the way and I'll be able to hear it good. It'll be a PITA to mount though.

    Why not just do a bed or toolbox mount? I know the center of the roof will give a good ground plane, I just don't know that it makes a big difference. Mines mounted on the back of my truck behind a big piece of fiberglass and I gives a couple miles I the open and never had a problem in the woods.
