Problems staying running

i have a 1993 tacoma with a 4 cylinder in it. it runs and idles fine for about 8 or 9 minutes and then just takes a massive dump. replaced the alternator in it less then 2 months ago. i also did a frame job on it from the center of the doors all the way back to the end of the bed. i removed both battery clamps but failed to remove the grounds off the frame. is it possible that when i was welding the frame, the electricity from the welder could have went up through the grounds and fried the ecu? any and all help will be appricated.

around here (where i live) some of us call it the toyota mini truck.

 

Have you had the alternator and battery checked at an auto store?

Does the battery drain after that time? Or does it start right back up and die shortly after?

Checked the Fuel Pump?

Fuel Filters?

Does the engine get hot before it dumps (The motor has a safe mode)

Does the check engine light come on? If so have you had the code checked?

Mass Airflow sensor clean and clear of any oils or debris?

Did it run fine before you welded on the frame?

On something like this, its pretty much trial and error.

 

i wanna say its got the 2.3 or 2.4 4 cylinder but in all honesty im really not sure. i havent looked at it in about a month due to being away at school but i have some time coming up soon and need to get it going. thanks

 

the alternator is brand new and same with the battery. the battery drains as it runs. its almost likek its just running off the battery and once it the battery dies the truck dies and then it doesnt start back up. the thermostat goes about a 1/4 of the way up but thats how its been since i bought it. there is no check engine light on but i wanna hook it up to a scan tool anyway once i get the oppertunity. it ran real good before i did the frame job. im gonna check the fuel filter and pump this weekend and same with the mass airflow. im also gonna try and post a video of it running to see if thatll help at all. how do i go about posting videos? thank you for all your help

 

have you tried cleaning the throttle body?

chris4x4, thats another thing that i was think that theres a bad connection or ground somewhere. do you think you could give me some ideas of where there are common ground connections or even where the grounds are on the truck? thanks

 

i havent gottin the chance to do anything yet because the truck is in a different state but im going to be making attempts to get it going this weekend but if not its either getting sold or going to the junk yard. but ill keep you posted
