I am thinking about putting a cold air intake on my 09 TRD off-road, any thoughts? do they really improve gas milage? i am thinking about getting a K&N 63 Series, does anyone have it? do you like it? any other suggestions on what to buy?

skip the cai.....just go with a good drop in filter. the stock intake is already a "cold air intake"...taking air in from the fenderwell. with a bolt on cai..........they really get the most out of them in the upper rpm band, so unless you are doing alotta high speed driving, you probably wont notice much difference at all......except maybe sound.

Only reason I want one- thing kind of sounds like a vacuum cleaner stock. I saw someone on here who modded the stock filter to be more of a straight path, and got just as good results.

yank the secondary air filter out....wont hurt anything, and it'll give you more sound.

I had that K&N kit on my 05. It worked well, but was not as "cold" as the stock config. With my 09, I will be going with the new AFE dry filter.

Taking it out has no affect on the engine. No gain, nothing. Therefore, I feel its best to just leave it in.

he dynoed with a v6.....and came up with nothing for it. but...he didnt dyno on the 4 banger, and lots have said they could tell a difference with the 4 banger. i pulled mine on the 06 v6 i had....didnt really notice anything, but it didnt hurt anything either. its just for emissions.

its about the only thing me and 4x4 differ on.....so i gotta poke at him when i can. damn extraordinaire post whores!:D

i would defintiley try it on a 4 cyl chris. it lowered my rpms while in neutral from 1000 to about 650ish. and it helps me with gas some. id be interested to see the gains on a dyno though.
