Alex! You should have been there, it was a good run today.

I understand. Being a member of a couple other groups/forums, this one is probably the best. Like Yota says, we bring our families, friends and even pets. Nothing to worry about. :D

    And where has Becky been?

Chris I dont understand why you are pissed. She only voiced her concerns and nervousness to be in the woods with strangers. That seems legit to me :notsure:

If there were a bunch of women meeting in the woods I'd totally go. No worries. But s lady meeting a bunch if weirdo tacoma dudes unsure about them I don't blame her lol. But all in all it's a family orientated environment.

    1. Read below

    2. I don't like the tone, especially in our trip thread. Someone outside of the group who read that could easily get the wrong impression. It's a bunch of Tacoma geeks meeting up, not a bunch of convicted felons and sexual predators. Beware the Tacoma geeks? C'mon.

    3. This whole "being cautious because I'm female" mentality is sexist, horse-shit, and reflects poorly on both genders. IMO it also reflects poorly on the members of our group as well.

    4. If there are any doubts as to the atmosphere of a gathering, doing something as simple as asking if anyone was bringing family members would be enough to ensure what the day will be like. Not only that, but let's look at the composition of our group. Service members, fire, police, tradesmen, etc. Lots of family members.

    5. That said, this is a thread to meet up and wheel, not put together a stroll through the nearest ghetto at 2 AM.

So you're saying she made us look like this, just because she was afraid of meeting a bunch of strangers in the woods for the first time? She seems smart to me. I personally know everyone is very nice and wouldn't do anything wrong, but she needs to protect herself, she might have heard the terrible things the jeep communities do, but us Toyota people aren't like that

As I said before I respect her for being safe. Again that being said we have a good group. I dont know about you but I would be pissed if my wife or daughters put themselves in an unsafe position based on talking to people online

Just picking on em. The jeeps I've been with have had bra-less chicks hanging out the back, tossing beer cans all over the trail and no seatbelts. Those types of people make us look bad.

Some jeep owners are very similar to us. Respectful, fun, responsible, and sober!

I kind of understand Chris being bothered, but by the same token "To each his own" with regards to inserting yourself into a new group of people--especially when you're going to commit to a day in the woods doing things that may or may not cause you problems and then having to rely on the same new acqaintances to help you out if need be. I BS'd with everyone here for quite awhile before my first run with you guys. I'm sure once Lisa knows us better she will be more confident entering the "psycho circus" :D. OK now kiss and make up everyone ;).

Never hurts to be careful. I've met a few of you guys offline but talked to both the guys (Billy and Mike) quite a bit before having them come to my house.

I believe Lisa also said she overslept..which of course I can relate to myself, just did it today..DOH

By all means, you can have your reservations about rolling out with a new group of people, but feel free to keep that to yourself or in PM. Talking about it here makes us all sound like a bunch of creeps to anyone with an internet connection.

Stephen, you're so far off base I don't even know what to make of your comment.

Hey all, I didn't mean to cause a ruckus. And Chris...I really don't understand your anger, but you're certainly welcome to it. Just an FYI, I am not the least bit sexist. People are people in my mind.

Thanks to you guys who weren't offended and understood my thinking, which was NOT thinking of you guys as weird. I actually find most if not all of you to be totally stand-up and interesting and knowledgeable as hell.

Three comments, and then I won't respond to this again:

    1. I was a little concerned about my dog and I going alone to hang in the woods with folks I've only met on-line a couple of months ago.
    2. To mitigate that risk, I did indeed ask a friend to come along with his two teenage boys. They were willing, but unfortunately had to bow out at the last minute due to a very sad and stressful family situation.
    3. Erik, I'm sure you are right. The bonds of friendship meld over time. I look forward to the next opportunity to enjoy going off-road with a bunch of "Tacoma geeks".

    Peace out.
