Ok - I'm ready to be flamed. Ive searched and I understand the difference between the trd off road and trd sport. My question is in real life experience which handles high speed wash board driving better. I have an Fj Cruiser which is the best washboard car I've ever driven. I can easily cruise at 60-65 under complete control. However a 4wd tundra I drove couldn't do over 45.

So if you have real world experience driving high speed on wash board - which suspension handles and hold the best on long fast washboard roads?

The TRD Offroad is slightly better in this situation with its taller tire sidewalls and softer sway bar (less disturbance in single-wheel bump conditions). That is, if you plan to keep the truck stock. Obviously both the OR and Sport can be upgraded with better tires and better suspension.

The valving of the shocks is the number one factor. Also your suv has weight over the rear end which the pickups do not making them buck around more and ride harsh.

Ok - so maybe a better question is what set up is gonna give me the most handling and speed for washboard driving. Most of my offroad driving is long distance on poorly graded dirt roads in Baja. Really stiff suspensions are kidney killers after and hour or so.

    washboards are ugly.
upgrading your suspension won't really help
just air down your tires a bit more.

Airing down is not a good idea at high speeds...especially high speeds for long distance. You're asking for tire damage/blow outs doing that...

airing down a little bit isn't going to hurt anything.

if you're gonna long travel or link your truck for washboard roads then you're wasting your time.

X2 with what Paden said. Upgrading your suspension won't do much for wash boards

I've never driven any vehicle that got less stable the faster I went on washboards. That goes for my Subaru's, Duramax, and Tacoma. I am surprised the Tundra was worse at higher speeds.

My suggestion is to choose a suspension with some adjustment, so you can choose the rebound settings that work the best for the speed you want to go. I am pretty new to Tacoma's, so I don't really know what to recommend on that front.
