Thought I would pass this along to you guys so you had a heads up.

As stupid as it is, KY makes it illegal to have within your vehicle a radio that is capable of transmitting or receiving police frequencies. Many states have laws against using them during the commission of a felony, KY (along with a couple of others) takes it to stupid extremes.

This of course will in no way effect just a CB, however some of you may be like me and run or have a scanner in your truck, so be aware, they can and do confiscate scanners/radios.

In my truck the AM/FM antenna does double duty for my scanner as well, this is nice as it does not attract attention when in states such as KY.

    Here is the law....

    http://www.lrc.ky.gov/Statutes/statute.aspx?id=18715

BTW, while our group has settled on channel 7 for our CBs, the community channels at the ORV park is 3 and 4.

Since I was looking up KY law to pass along, thought I would confirm what I already understood.

For those of you who are like me and always carry a firearm with you, the posting of No Firearms in the 'rules' of Black Mountain ORV park was disappointing. Of course that should not be an issue with a bit of common sense, you leave it in your vehicle or concealed (with permit) and there is NO reason for it to come out or be seen.

Then again, the parks 'restriction' means less than nothing. While most states allow private property owners to put limitations on firearms on their own property, KY is one of the states that protects your 2nd Amendment rights even when on other's private property as long as it stay IN your vehicle.

It is unlawful for ANY entity public or private to restrict in any way your lawful carry as long as it remains in your vehicle. You may carry loaded in your vehicle with our without permit as long as in plain sight or inside a locked or unlocked factory installed compartment of your vehicle. It goes so far as to state they can be held liable with civil penalties if they attempt to do so.

Section 4 & 8 spells this out clearly...

    http://www.lrc.ky.gov/Statutes/statute.aspx?id=40540

This will be important to some, will mean little to others, but it is always better to have accurate info.

Should be that simple. Make sure you grind off any paint at the spot of your ground. I needs to contact metal. Once you bolt it down, then you can spray over it with paint

Got my CB finally fininshed up last night. SWR of 1.5, CB is 510xl, mounted in ash tray location. I had time to heat up the plastic on the air duct and mold room for the ant. wire. Now it's completly flush mount, and looks great.

I ended up removing the stud mount from bumper and just grinding off the P.C. where the stud would touch the bumper. After, I verified continuity between the bare steel and frame ground... .02 ohms. Reinstalled everything, verifying continuity to ground at each step. Took it back out into the wide open area and measured SWR again. At first I was at 3.5 on ch 40 and 3 on ch 1. I took the quick disconnect off and it dropped to 1.5 and 2. Tuned the ant. a smidge and whoila.... 1.6 on ch 1, 1.7 on ch 40, and 1.5 on ch 20. Think I got it. Thanks again. We are so stoked for the level of Tom Foolery that's about to take place in the hills of Ky.

Haha hell yeah. Me too!! And I heard that adding stuff like a spring and a quick disconnect will fuck with the signal but I have both and tuned mine just fine. My only problem was not getting a good ground which I fixed. My antenna is also like 2 1/2' - 3' above my roof line. Haha

I really, really need to quit being a lazy ass about a lot of truck topics.

I need to finish up my passenger seat and actually get a seat in there. The base it bolted down, so the hard part is done. Need to wash the fabric(s), install the weight sensor, put seat completely back together.

I could use a better bolt down on the RR mount of my seat. Need a bolt and nut.

The CB ground wire topic. Put my upper side pocket back in also.

Rotate tires (I did do an oil change and trans fluid change this week!)

Clean the crud off the aux fuse slots, maybe think of a way to cover it up. High resistance = bad times.

Do something about the front the truck. I took my front bumper off. Cause I wanted to. Riding around with nothing up front at the moment. Brainstorming on this one, want something a little different. Need to buy a can of that gunmetal plastidip and repaint all that stuff that's under there.

I'd like to WD40 the shit out of the bottom of the truck before Harlan.

Would seriously take like a morning or afternoon, or a few hours.

I need to make a fucking checklist and actually do something.

WD40 will evaporate. Use something like fluid film. It'll out perform WD40 and last a WHOLE LOT longer.

There's no way you stockish guys should need any axles. I only broke really beating on my truck with 37" tires.

Don't be fooled by the weakness of first gen cv axles...2nd gen OEM axles are tough!
