Looking to purchase my first pistol. Can only afford one right now so would like to be able to conceal carry it as well as have fun at the range. Will more than likely pick up another down the road.

    S&W M&P 9C - $549
-BY FAR feels the best in my hands
    -The full size mags work
    -Nice slide serations

Ruger SR9C Special Edition - $449 ($80 off, "Used" but never fired)
    -Feels decent
    -Chambered round indicator
    -Saftey & double trigger
    -Full size mags work

    Beretta Nano - $429
-Compact size and smooth finish (no external slide release or anything else to catch on).
-Really narrow, feel like I don't have a good grip on it
    -Low capacity 5+1
    -Long trigger pull

So, looking to purchase this week (maybe tomorrow) so I'd like some honest, educated opinions since a lot of this is newish to me. Thanks in advance!

As far as all of these go, all are good guns. I would suggest you go and hold all of them and maybe if possible shoot all of them. Find out which has a better point of aim/point of impact for you.
For example: I shoot mainly CZ's due to the fact I shoot them better than any other gun, they may not be as bombproof as a glock but I am more comfortable with the CZ. You need to think about more than looks or what someone else thinks about a gun, a gun buying experience is a very personal thing.
Good luck! Sorry not much help here.

I agree get to the range and fire as many as you can, try some not on your list. Find out what you enjoy, because I can tell you what I like but that wont mean you like it too.

I would love to shoot them all and then choose but I only have access to a ruger and a nano and the one I'd really like to shoot is the m&p. I'm really leaning towards the m&p because of how perfect it feels and that's really all I have to go on without actually shooting one.

    My 2 dolla:

The M&P my college roommate had, I shot a few times and it was a fine gun. S&W has done good with these. I liked it alot.

The Ruger: ( I normally love Ruger) but my uncle had the SR9 (an earlier version) and while showing it to us, one of the pins fell out of the gun. All of us were like WTF...

Ruger polymer is the noob polymer as far as polymer guns go amongst others. While they are learning, they did have recalls on the SR9 (takedown pin broke often)And The LCP had issues.

The only Beretta that exists to me is the 92FS. All of the others are kind of bad designs. Other than the Cheetah. I would avoid the polymer Beretta.

If you want the AK-47 of all pistols.. get a Glock 26 or 19. I have the 26 and for me personally, Glock is the Godfather of polymer-frame pistols. HK comes in second, but they cost a German arm and a German ball sack to own without the tried and true Glock owner torture test.

    Hope this helps.

-Edit: Out of the 3 I would definitely take the M&P. Its the closest to a Glock.

My vote is S&W M&P, good gun. And you want something that feels comfortable in your hands.

Get the M&P. We have the full size and its awesome. Shoots as good as my HK P30, but was 60% in cost. We did add an Apex action kit, which I think was totally worth the $90. It took all the grittiness out of the trigger and now it's butter smooth (but still not as silky smooth as my HK, but again, at $700 invested vs. $1000, it's a very close second). The other advantage is the M&P 22 that is the exact same size as the full size. You can have fun plinking with one without going broke. Also, way more aftermarket support for the M&P than the Ruger and Beretta (I love Ruger for their rifles and Beretta for their shotguns, so I'm not manufacturer biased as I own some of all three).

2 of my friends have the SR9 and like them a lot but I haven't had the chance to shoot them. I have shot is my mom's LC9 and it was ok. I know lots of people will say Glock is the way to go but I wasn't a big fan of how they felt. Would I own one? Yes. It's been a while since I've held one so I might check out the 19 again when I go. Feel is really all I have to go on and the M&P fits like a glove.

I think I had my mind made up before I posted this, just wanted to chat about them and get some reassurance haha.

The LC9 is not a fair comparison to the Ruger SR9 or the Smith. It's way smaller and it shoots like a small gun with lots of recoil unless you know how to manage it. The larger framed guns with more mass will handle recoil way better.

Nice! Do you have a full size mag for it? If I get it I will need to find the piece that slides over the full size mag and continues the grip (if that makes sense)

Good to know on the aftermarket support. I love to mod and personalize everything. I was looking up duracoat paint schemes months ago and I don't even have a pistol to duracoat :anonymous:

I will definitely be getting a 22 of some sorts down the road. The first pistol I shot was my unlce's Walther P22 and it was a blast! Cheap to shoot too.

Is $549 a fair price for the M&P 9C? They have 2 at my local Gander Mtn. How hard would it be to conceal the full size? It's $499.

Oh I know. I wasn't comparing them to each other, just making observations on my experience with the LC9. And I was kind of surprised with the amount of recoil but it makes sense with the small frame and low weight.

I think that the $549 is fair. Not buy it now crazy low, but fair. I currently carry my HK P30 which is slightly smaller than the full size M&P, but larger than the compact. I have been carrying it appendix at 12:30 to 1:00 and I can hide it fairly well. I get some printing from the length of the grip. I think it depends on where you are going to carry it. At the appendix, I'd go compact. At 3:30 to 4:00, you can probably get away with the full size depending on how often you bend over. I used to carry a LC9 at 4:00, but was starting to get lower back pain from sitting on it while driving (even just for my 30 minute commute). That's why I switched to appendix carry with the HK and so far I really like it.

No, i just use the 12rndrs that come with it. You will get one mag w/ext and one without, if you call S&W and ask them for one they will send it to you for free. Just be sure and tell them if you have 10 or 12 rd mags. That is if you decide to go with this. I had a Glock 26 gen 4 and we didnt get along. I just could not shoot it very good. Plus You have to buy mag ext's and blah blah. The M&P is like a laser beam in my hands.

:Academy should have them quite cheap.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
I have fired both the S&W and I own the Ruger. I love the Ruger. Very comfortable in my hands. The S&W felt slightly awkward to me personally.
