On my old TJ Wrangler the fender flares were gray to say the least, one weekend and a can of satin black krylon fusion and they looked BRAND new. I wiped them with down with windex and painted them. The 2 years I had it they never cracked faded or peeled. That includes multiple layers of mud and more than a couple trips through automated and self serve car washes. If it does, spend $10 and paint them again!

    Before it was edited...

I too consider myself a PD (professional detailer) & I have several awards to prove it. Problem is; their only weekend fixes. And as Rich mentioned; the shit is $32.00/30 ml. At that price it better give me a massage when I'm done!

As they say proof is in the pudding. Any pics of stuff you've done that hasn't been touched up for at least one year? If you have trouble posting pics please PM me and I'll host them for you.

Oh, I have plenty of pride of ownership.

For example, I own a truck because I need it to do truck things, and I'm proud of that.

I don't need a glorified car. I have a car for car things.

If you're daily driving a pristine truck around town you bought the wrong vehicle, probably as a fashion statement. After all, crossovers just don't look nearly as cool picking the kids up from soccer practice.

The chicks that like anal are usually more fun.

    lol.

If you think a vehicle is an investment, you don't know what an investment is, and you're beyond help.

If it works, it works, but like Rich Evans's "Solution Finish", it's not cheap. "Worth it" is up to the individual owner.
To me, $30 for 30ml, or $76 for 12oz of Solution Finish is not worth it.
For a PD, where you are working on customer cars and the cost of the product can be amortized over many customers, it's worth it.

In a nutshell, if I had a vehicle that I felt was worth that kind of money, it would be a vehicle that does not have any unpainted black plastic.
My '03 Tundra only had unprotected plastic on the body moulding, and 303 kept it looking great.

Even my wife's '04 Rav4(-L) has no unpainted black plastic.

Maybe true, I dont own land.. but I've always worked hard for what I earn, not that I plan on selling/trading my truck to gain any capital...but I grew up in the sticks and what I was saying previously is 100% true. If you dont wanna care for your machine be my guest. If you wanna use it as a farm truck, then I understand it as a beater workhorse. But if you think everyone should be driving their taco around in "busted ass" backwoods style condition, then thats just your opinion brotha! :D I'd say most of us beg to differ.

Stop creating Straw Men and throwing Red Herring into the mix.

I never said anything about not caring for the vehicle or driving it around "busted ass". Stop being silly.

What I'm saying is it's a truck. Quit worrying about your stupid plastic trim and go haul some shit or something.

Can you please explain the logical leap that clean truck = car?

I'm enjoying your diatribe, I really am, but the shit you are saying makes me face palm like no other.

Ha! I can't tell if your trying to be ironic, or just unintentionally dense. You're honestly accusing someone else of a red herring?

You in fact have presented a red herring, more specifically the appeal to ridicule - to state that someone who wants to keep their truck clean and maintained is somehow less of a man.

The logic as you have presented it is fundamentally flawed. You have yet to provide a real reason to NOT maintain your vehicle.

By your own logic you state that keeping your truck clean is a fashion statement........ That can be turned right back around on you by saying that you not taking care to maintain your truck so it looks "like a real truck!" is a fashion statement.

You sound like the guys I know who scratch their knives on purpose so they can show their friends and say "look how much I've used it!"

    These are both valid points.

By all means, maintain your vehicle. Just don't kid yourself that plastic treatment is maintenance. It's hair gel for your body-on-frame, bed-sporting El Camryno.

Except every dent and ding on my truck came honestly...y' know, from trees, kicked up rocks, brush in the trail, 2x4s and rebar tossed in the bed, pea gravel, etc. etc.

What I'm more like is those guys you know who have well used knives they love because they see a lot of useful and needed action, and I'm wondering why you have a knife at all since it just sits in that display case. Sure it's a nice knife, maybe even the highest quality brand on the market, but why'd you get it? It just sits there.

jandrews - Not really sure how we got side tract but this truck is certainly not representative of comments you've made here. Not only is it obvious you do take proper care of your truck but you also care about how its perceived by others. I would be proud to own a truck like that. One I could take out on weekends, or whatever, and blow off steam after a long week. But after its all said and done, clean her up for the next time. But to say we're all a bunch of ______________ for worrying about plastic. Doesn't make much sense at all. What gives? Someone certainly pissed you off and for whatever reason this was your outlet. Doesn't make much sense at all...
