I'm trying to research the Pelfreybilt shock relocation kit. Aside from reading through the 100+ pages on this thread, is there another thread that discusses this product?

Has anyone successfully run (fully articulated) a 2.5 body shock with this kit?

    Thanks!

His webpage, and I plan on writing a review after my first trip out this weekend with pictures. I think a 2.5 could fit but will be tight and Tyler could probably build something to fit the 2.5.

Thanks for the response, but I could only find very limited information on his website regarding this product...

"Kit includes frame reinforcement plates, hoops with shock mount provisions, bump can mounts, lower shock tabs and custom strike plates that are part of u-bolt flip kit. The kit will be partially assembled to allow the installing fabricator to determine bump height & droop. All assembled pieces will be tig welded. Shock mounting hardware is included. 12" stroke shocks & bump stops are not included. Extended brake lines are required, but not included. Limit straps are strongly recommended."

I'm not looking for a custom kit, I'm looking for a kit where the R&D has already been done. Which is why I'm looking at this kit. I'm just trying to find out if the 2.5's will work without any major modification.

Also trying to understand why straps are recommended if the 12" shock goes full extension at the same point when the OEM shackle drops. I understand the use of straps just not in this application given its specifically designed for the 12" shock (31.5" extended for 2.0 kings).

What determines how the air bumps are supposed to be set in relation to the axle? Does the design utilize the air bump to ultimately end compression or is it the shocks?

I currently have light racing jounce stops welded in where my rear frame mount OEM bump bracket was located. They sit almost centered over my spring pack/axle. So I'm wondering if I can still use this kit minus the air bump bracket? I'd basically have cut out the center of the kits frame plate.

Also looking to see what material the tube hoop is made of and angle of the shock.

Sry for all the questions but I'm just one of those guys.

Hopefully Tyler can chime in. :)

I'm just trying to find out if the 2.5's will work without any major modification. The kit is designed for a 2" shock which is plenty for a SOA spring setup with factory length springs. If you prefer a 2.5 then it will likely work with small trimming to the bump stop plates to ensure the shock body clears at full compression. The next thing would be to ensure wheel offset is enough to clear the additional diameter.

Also trying to understand why straps are recommended if the 12" shock goes full extension at the same point when the OEM shackle drops. I understand the use of straps just not in this application given its specifically designed for the 12" shock (31.5" extended for 2.0 kings).
Straps are always a good idea and recommended but not required

What determines how the air bumps are supposed to be set in relation to the axle? Does the design utilize the air bump to ultimately end compression or is it the shocks? The mounts for the cans are pre assembled to the frame plate at the correct attitude to ensure they strike the center of the strike plates. The height is determined by the installing fabricator based on the spring pack being used and the lever which the customer would like to stop the up-travel. Some people will opt for additional up-travel and more negative spring arch sacrificing spring life and others may like to bump sooner and not over stress the leaf packs. All installations should be cycled to determine best fit for that vehicle, we have taken out most of the guess work however.

I currently have light racing jounce stops welded in where my rear frame mount OEM bump bracket was located. They sit almost centered over my spring pack/axle. So I'm wondering if I can still use this kit minus the air bump bracket? I'd basically have cut out the center of the kits frame plate.
I think you would be ok with that setup however your adjustment for bump height would not be adjustable, you would have to use the current bump height and adjust the shock provisions to meet the current bump height.

Also looking to see what material the tube hoop is made of and angle of the shock. The hoop material is 1.75 x .120W HREW tubing with .135 sheet on the upper mounts and the lower mounts and frame plates are 3/16". The bump stop plates are 1/2" steel. The shock is at appx 9º froward tilt and appx 5º inboard tilt from the bottom up.

Sry for all the questions but I'm just one of those guys. No sweat

Hopefully Tyler can chime in. :)
