I was talking with a guy at the local 4wheelparts store and we got to talking winches. He said that the Smittybilt and WARN winch are the same. This was of course after I expressed my interest in the WARN m8000, but I have a feeling this had something to do with 4wheelparts owning Smittybilt so it had the feeling of a sales pitch.... thoughts?

Warn VR winches are China parts. Just assembled and tested in US.

Warn M winches are all US parts.

From what I've heard around the nets is to beware warns on bay cause they won't honor the warrenty on some. At least that's what I remember. Thats probably one of the new line winches, which I doubt are any better then any other Chinese made winch. I've heard good things about engo, I bought one but can't really comment as I really haven't used it. But I really haven't found anything bad about them, and they have great customer service.

Not according to th m12000 I had, believe it was manufactured in 2006. China all over the place. I've read plenty of warn reps claims on forums and I just don't even trust that they're assembled here. VR line
