Hate to break it to you..but the URD piggy back can't run 6 additonal injectors..you'll still need the Map ECU

Yeah I noticed that. It wasn't very clear but it specifically says "It knows exactly what 'injector' (singular) you're using". I wanted to go the mapecu3 route from the beginning but I got all twitterpated on the deal I was given on that stuff. Thanks for letting me know.

On a side note all my turbo stuff arrives today so I should have a wee boost by Saturday. Fuel and electronic stuff is going to be dealt with next Friday.

 

Yeah I'm fabricating everything up myself so with the addition of a dependent oiling system (more reliable) and I'm right under $900. I could have spent $700 if I would have used the engine oil.

 

the URD controller will run 6 injectors no prob. But you won't be able to to use the Turbo Port injector rail with it.

I was piecing together some stuff last night and got this (Monte, let me know if Im missing anything):

I downloaded gadgets PDF installation file for the AIC and it has an application specifically for the turbo port fueler.
And the one I'm trying to buy from him came with the TPF.

 

This would be a killer set up.

Don't forget you need to add in custom exhaust and even tho the IC kit comes with tubing, it'll probably have to be modifed a tad at some point.

But id run all that.

 

Just be sure piping where maf sensor is located is same diameter as oem or as close as possible to make tuning easier. Also be sure no bends or bov near maf. Be sure bov is in front of maf closer to turbo as well. You may need a flow straightener before maf if you run into tuning issues. I had a turbo 5vz so I will do my best to help you through this with parts you are using.....

 

I appreciate it. I'm going to have the maf as close to the throttle blade as possible and ill keep the BOV thing in mind. I got a 3" BOV assembly but I'm using 2" charge pipes up to at least the wheel well so ill have to tinker around with the location. I've seen 5vzs with it 6" away from the maf that run fine, but I'm in it for reliability and performance, not just speed. Got the t4 snail today and I'm getting the last bit of my aluminumized exhaust and charge pipe bends tomorrow so I'm going to hit it hard after work. Believe it or not but I'm going to be using ABS tubing for the charge pipes from the start of the cab to the BOV
A few guys I've checked into are still boosting with it 3 and 4 years later.

Do not place maf close to throttle body as it can create turbulence as well. I would stay 6-8" from it. Also be sure piping is all close to same size as oem or tuning may be difficult. It is hard enough as it is to tune a turbo motor. Also try to have a long straight section before maf and/or air straightener before maf in piping. Be sure you have a way to tune closed loop vs just open loop for happy motor and better results. What is abs tubing? Take this slow man and ask questions so you do not waste your time and/or money.....

 

Its that black PVC tubing you see at home depot. Its made out of a polymer that's very strong like the furniture on a military m16.

Thanks man, I think my budget i maxed so exhaust will stay... (well, it was probably maxed at $500). If I deploy or get an IA this next set of orders, chances are, Ill go for it. Gonna have to buy my wife a Van though...

Technically Thornton. You should consider adding additional injectors instead of replacing your primaries with bigger ones because there has been known issues with running too rich and throwing codes when you get too big on the primaries even with a nice fuel controler. That's why I'm getting the URD turbo port fueler. $200 for the port fueler, $65x6 (or cheaper used) for the extra injectors and $100 for the 255l fuel pump. So $700 plus whatever piggyback you want to use and you have the option of driving completely stock until you get your foot in it (since the primary injectors are still stock). I'm not sure how much the tokensolutions piggy is but I'm sure you would come out at or under the kit you want to get.

Leaving on a business trip on Sunday morning so I'm going to try to knock everything out today and tomorrow. We pass through boulder a lot to target practice in the boulder mountains, so maybe ill hit you up so we can chit chat and you can check out the setup. I'm really making an effort to be a guinea pig and spread as much info on DYI turbo tacomas as I can because the info I finally got took so much effort and time to get.
On a side note I got the my muffler cut (holy crap going to work was loud this morning) and the exhaust flange welded so I should at least have the turbo mounted and oil lines connected with no charge pipes (yet) before dark today. Charge pipes and a dyno tune(maybe) will come tomorrow.

 

I didn't expect it, but I guess this is going to double as a build thread. I wish I had enough time to figure out how to change the title...
