I know most of the folks on here are power boat and/or fishermen when it comes to the water, but i's sure we have a couple sailors living among us :)

The America's Cup yach races have been held over the last couple of weeks out in California, on the Sanfran. Bay. This year's races have been like no other due to the new AC72 hydrofoil catamarans they used. Truely amazing machines that will hit 50+ mph.

The US team was down to New Zeland, 8 races to 1. Yesterday afternoon was the 19th an final race. Team USA had made a comeback that had never been seen before and tied it up before race 19. yesterday's race was "winner takes all". The race was neck and neck off the start, but after making the turn at the 2nd mark, USA started to consistantly increase the distance between them and Team New Zealand. They finished the 25 minute race, 38 seconds and about 600 meters in the lead.

People are already calling this the most signifficant sports comeback since the 1980 "miracle on ice".

Here is the full coverage video from yesterday. the race itself starts at the 15:00 mark, and ends at 38:30, when team usa crosses the finish line.

if you don't want to watch the whole race, I highly recomend at least watch the start, which was absolutely beautiful, and then when team USA takes turn #3 starting at 31:25, with an amazing display of precision boat control

My work schedule held me back, but my parents were lucky enough to make it across the country to watch last week's races. My father is a professional photographer, as was able to get some very nice shots of the AC72s

Sailor from Florida here checking in. I thought it was amazing racing and an incredible comeback. The favorite shot of the whole cup for me is this one. I lost it when I saw this.

it's a virtual overlay on the live feed. same tech they use to put lines on a football field during a live broadcast.

not gonna lie, i may have gotten a little teary eyed at work when that shot came on yesterday. what a beautiful sight.

Edit: watch at 38:00 in the video to see it.

It was a whole bunch of people holding a flag out over the water.
