TSB possible with AAL and a broken spring?

So i have an AAL and also one of my springs is broken, think it's a possibility of getting the TSB done on my truck?

 

Are you still within warranty?? ::doubts it on an 05 but figured I'd ask::

The AAL may or may not help you get it...the broken spring should be that much more reason.

The only real way to tell is the ask the dealer you want to do the work...You've got a shot...but the service manager or a district service rep make the call

 

Oh do the TSBs only apply under warranty? I thought it was a similar situation to a recall where the mileage wouldn't matter...

 

Nope...Recalls are for real safety issues and are at least partially gov't managed/dictated...so they have to apply no matter what.

TSBs are guidance for Toyota Techs for hard to diagnose/resolve issues. In the rear leaf spring case- If you haven't had any issues hauling gear/cargo in the first 36K miles...They say you must be fine with the loading/ride and that is that. The rear leaf spring TSB (and I'm guessing the others) have the warranty applicability listed in the TSB.

That is probably the easiest answer...Try asking the dealer first tho. They might spring for it...

Yeah - definately get a new leaf pak.

How long have you had the AAL? That's one of the down-falls to having AAL's - they put stress on your original leaf pak. That's probably why you have a broken leaf.

 

Not sure, been quite awhile now, noticed the broken spring back in April. Slightly worried there may be damage to more springs in the pack or even all my rear springs... Would you suggest maybe just replacing the broken spring or do I need a whole pack?

 

tell them you loaded the bed down and heard a pop snap and crackle, looked down to see the leaf spring broke, you want the tsb.

 

Which would be a lie...and if he's out of warranty- It may not help him at all.

He can ask- If they say no- That's the end of it...There are folks who have lucked out and getting set up outside of warranty.
