Who here has experience in rebuilding winches? Everyone who has wheeled with me knows that my winch makes a huge racket (Engo 10000 series). I'm taking off my front bumper this weekend to get powder coated (so it matches my NEW rear bumper) and I figured that this would be the best time to:

    1. relocate my dangly signals.
    2. address my which power to ground arcing that has partially melted by power boot on the winch
    3. attempt to grease my winch
    4. run in cab winch controls that I purchased last year
    5. tighten down some loose/rattling bolts on my skids
    6. etc

You have a shop where this can be done? Mine is a little messy (getting set up to move in nov/dec)
I can bring some tools and such.

    Hey guys,

No response from Engo and no online manuals that I could find. I took off the end cap and there was grease in there. Bunch of planetary gears, so I didn't mess around with it at all. There was grease in there so I'm wondering if maybe the winch is just a super loud one? I dunno'.

The winch cover was twelve allen bolts, so easy to take off. If either of you two want to have a look, I'd be up for that.

Joe - I could swing by your place with the winch if that works easiest.

Saturday is out for me as I'll be with Jon (TRD09) making a bed rack for my RTT that I should have before our mid-October trip.

CBI rear bumper is enroute and Kevin at Sherwood Park Toyota should have it hopefully at the end of the week. Both bumpers are getting powder coated (front bumper is in the truck bed right now) before I take the truck to Empire for some bodywork and bumper replacement due to me being rear ended a couple of weeks ago. Minor damage, but the OEM bumper folded pretty good so I'm paying the difference for an aftermarket bumper. Problem is, not too many first gen rear bumpers in stock - everybody needs 3-6 months notice!

Access cab, so I guess I have a "long" box compared to a double cab. I think your bed rack is quite a bit higher than what I'm looking for. I want something more akin to BoxRocket's setup so that the RTT is basically flush with the roof when mounted.

Do you have a picture of your bed rack on your old truck?

I got some Engo winch information. I guess there's no service maintenance for the winch as it's "waterproof" and only requires a re-grease if the winch has been fully submerged in water for a length of time. I've read other forums where users have reiterated that the winch is super loud, but is working as intended.

Maybe on this information I should just leave as is? The winch hasn't failed, so maybe it's all good?

After skimming 20+ pages of fire this, sell me that, insurance here, I found some pictures. Yep, your bedrack would be a bit tall for me.

Truck going on on the 17th for rear bumper replacement (CBI as it was basically the only thing in stock other than All Pro), driver quarter panel fix, and new tailgate. Tepui tent just arrived today, bed rack being built Saturday. Truck should be good to go (I hope) for Thanksgiving weekend wheeling trip. Front bumper and winch to be put back on sometime next week with turn signal relocation still on "to do list".
