Close, 33 1/3 is the speed at which it rotated. The common speeds were 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm. Depending on the speed an diameter of the disk they were either LP, SP or EP. If I recall the diameter's of the disks were 12", 10" and 7".

My son bought me a vinyl of some NIN, we were playing it on my stereo, when the side was finished I told him to flip it over, he walked over to the turntable, stopped and stood there, he said "Dad, what do i do?"

Your not old! You are just not as young as you were 21 years ago. Oz is ancient though... Is he blithering on about how he landed in Canada with the vikings or something about dinosaurs again

You mentioned the Berlin Wall coming down, and that reminded me of something funny. I work in retail, one day customer traffic was light, and one of the young high schooler cashiers was working on homework in the long times between ringing out the few customers we had that day. I went through to have a soda rang out and saw her working on geography maps, one of the USA, and one of Europe.

I said I loved geography when I was in school and asked her how she liked it. She said it was "boring" and "difficult" and that she had to be able to label these two maps for an upcoming test she had. I told her to learn to recognize the shape of each country or state to make it easier. She exclaimed that nobody would ever remember this stuff, and challenged me to fill one out if it was "so easy". I was caught up on my workload, so we xeroxed a copy and I filled out the 50 states easily enough and handed it to her. Then I tackled the Europe map.

Easily enough, England, Portugal, France, Germany, etc. Then I got over to the east side of the map and there was a whole bunch of little countries that I had no idea what they were! I just wrote in big letters across them: "Soviet Union" and handed it back to her. She looked at me and said "What is this?" I just shrugged and said "Hey, when I learned it, that's what it was, there were two Germany's too." She was in disbelief and said they must have taken it easier on us "back in the day", and what was this "two Germany's" stuff I was making up as an excuse for not knowing the map?

That's when I first felt old..
