TX law allows that kind of carry in a vehicle?

In FL, it must be "securely encased" (a snap holster has met that definition in court).

Of course, CW permit holders can carry on their person, in or out of the vehicle. Your mount is just a bit too visible for my taste, but if you like it, and it's legal, cool beans.

Doesn't matter how you carry it in your vehicle in FL if you have a CWP.

SC also have some nice beaches, right? :)

No environmental drawbacks except a hurricane every now and then.

If it makes anyone feel better, I'm pretty good at accents, but when I do a California accent it always fades into a Canadian accent with no eh's.

The Carolina's are real nice. It's about as far north my thinned blood could desire. :D

However, wild horses could not drag me out of Florida.

Got my 2013 Taco Prerunner DCSB silver 4cyl and started tinkering with the shortening of the mud flaps. Decided to remove them.

A fine gentleman gave me his OE step board (silver) and installed it.

Changed the horn to something that sounds more manly!

    Truck looks 'tougher' now.

Texas says it can be loaded and within reach, but should be concealed. This doesn't completely meet the concealed part, but I know several who carry in their trucks with a holster mount in a less concealed place and they have been told several times there placement was ok. I've also asked a lot of PD and been told as long as it's not too obvious, like a chrome framed 357 laying up on top of the dashboard, that I shouldn't have any issues. But, to be on the safe side, I will likely drape a small piece of material over it. You do not need a CCL to carry in your vehicle in Texas. In Texas, it falls under the castle law, where your vehicle is the same as your house. But, Texas law says that when you are on your property, you can open carry (Can't open carry in public, except long guns) so it's misleading at best. In a nutshell, I've been told that if you're in contact with a LEO, for something simple like a burnt out tail light, and you notify them that you have the weapon etc, there will likely be no issue at all. But, if they stop you because you're throwing beer bottles out your window, driving down the road drinking, and you have it mounted like that .. then yeah, it's probably going to not weigh in your favor. lol.

As for how mine is mounted, it is actually harder to see than the pictures show. From the drivers window looking in, you can't see it if someone is sitting in the drivers seat. It's most visible from the passenger side, more so if no one is sitting in that seat. But, it doesn't stand out. I used a flash when taking the pics, from the front portion of the passenger seat. The shading created by the dash helps to hide it a bit under normal lighting.

I spend a fair amount of time in areas of Texas that have heavy illegal alien and drug traffic. We are allowed to drive on our beaches, and it's about a 70 mile beach trek to the land cut down towards South padre. You can come up on any number of things. Same goes for our place and my friends ranches. You can be out filling feeders and come around a bend in the brush and surprise the hell out of someone, and yourself. So, being able to get to your weapon quickly, can be key. Taking the time to dig it out of your console would be the slower option. My placement is such that I can throw the truck in reverse and then grab it all in one quick motion.

But, I will continue to ask until I get a clear cut answer, because I want to be in compliance as much as possible. If compliance means throwing a small piece of cloth over it while it's there, then that's what I'll do.

I don't believe it can be in plain sight, even with a CWP...but I'd have to re-check 790 to be sure.

I know when I took my CWP course in FL about 10 year ago that was the case if you were carrying it. If you're carrying the weapon it had to be completely concealed, even if you were in your vehicle. You did not need a CWP to have a gun in the vehicle and it could be accessible so long as it was in a closed container, snapped holster, or zippered closure, something like that.

Just can't be visible from the outside of the vehicle. Which in this case I would say it isn't. I've had LEO's able to see mine between my feet and its fine.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
i love those wheels, its the same set i picked.

I have different tires, 265/75r16 but yours look good.. fix any rubbing issues yet?

they look really good without the center caps too, if for some reason you wanted to or needed to run them that way.

I have mine off now, when i cleaned my truck they had collected dirt and mud debris, as well as one lonely rock from the gravel.

^^that is why i went with these on mine versus the trd fake beadlocks.. i had the M/T classic locks and they were a horrid PITA always collecting something behind the ring and throwing a wheel out of balance.

Do you by chance know what the backspacing is on these wheels? is the same 5.5 as on our stock TRD wheels?

i cant remember for sure, i do remember reading that some of the trd wheels are 1/2 inch different? something like that but i think i might be the beadlocks, i dont notice any stance difference with them so its got to be close :)

www.trdparts4u.com has them maybe they have the answer (my browser wont go for me to check)
