Get a bike with room for him to grow into power wise, and limit it with a throttle stop.

Also, as far as 2M antennas, I know most have to have a decent sized ground plane (rooftop) to mount on, for those of you who have one on your DD, is there a quick release kinda mount or do you guys just avoid parking structures and garages?

70 doesn't have throttle stop. But he doesn't use one now on a 70 quad

When you go in ask for Ron. and make sure the antenna and mount a NMO type, easier on maintenance.

I have a magnetic tram antenna and it works great. I thought it would slip off the truck but that thing hasn't budged at all.

Got it, I was going to use the CB mount that Tyler makes, will that not work? Never seen one of these antennas up close so I'm not sure what im working with :)

Lots of clams near San Quintin!

Here's another photo of me in 1975 (17 years old), in Baja with my dune buggy:

Damn David, were you able to get any traction with those drag slicks on there?

Drag slicks? The tires? Those are Armstrong HiWay Floatation tires (for sand) on the back... Aggressive tread was not what we used back in those days, just more surface area... Those floatation tires worked great everywhere I went.

In fact, it was those Armstrong Hi-Way Floatation Tires that got Dick Cepek into the tire business!: http://www.offroadunlimited.com/orustore/PC/oru_brands.asp?brandId=26

    >>> Eventually, he finally came across Armstrong tire and discovered that they had a farm implement tire that might meet his needs and he convinced them to have it DOT approved. The tire was called the Hi-way Flotation tire, which was introduced in 1961. The next issue he ran into was not having a wheel wide enough to fit this wide of a tire, however Dick found a local wheel builder to build what he needed and this is where his legacy began. Dick, being an enthusiast, also had many friends with the same passion and wanting to travel to the same places as him. He started by selling the wheels and tires to his friends and other enthusiasts out of his garage. In the beginning he did not sell to make a lot of money but just enough to take himself and his family out on the weekends not only to play and explore new areas of the desert without getting stuck but to feed his passion as an off-road adventurer.<<<
