For automatics, Do you go by the owners manual, or do you change your tranny fluid and coolant more frequently?

Not sure what kind of vehicle this is but toyota dealers will tell you, at least on my 2007 tacoma v6 auto, you don't need to EVER change the transmission fluid. I found it hard to believe so i flushed it @ 96k miles. As for coolant i had it done at 80k. those are the only times ive done those two fluid exchanges to my truck. Far as the recommended maint from the owners manual i try to get them done before they are technically due.

You don't have the change the tranny fluid going by the manual. A lot of people(like my self) are going to change it when the right time comes for it. Nothing wrong with changing it. Some people just don't want to leave that fluid in there until whatever.

Toyota DOES RECOMMEND servicing the automatic transmission on ALL Second gen v6 automatics. Was 100k miles, is now 60k

More often. I did the tranny drain and fill at 30k, and changed the coolant at 3 years. I will repeat this intervals over time.

i cant say for the tranny as i have a manual, but i just had my coolant flushed at the dealer right around 100K miles. not sure if it actually needed it, but i believe in preventative maintenance.

How do you "Inspect" a sealed transmission without a dipstick?

From my understanding, all you can do is make sure it isn't leaking...

There is a procedure to check your transmission oil level. If you search this forum you can find it.
