Need DIY info on changing rear brake shoes.

Hoping someone has found some detailed DIY info (hopefully with pics or a vid) on replacing the rear shoes on a 2nd gen Tacoma. My 05 has 113k and is due some new shoes. Thanks!

 

They're the same as every other Toyota drum, more or less.

 

Yes, I found all the detailed info you could ever need inside the Haynes manual I bought for my truck.


Keys to proper brake job:

1) Loosen the pads before trying to remove the drum
2) Get new springs for everything
3) Get the drum cut
4) Properly adjust the pads when done otherwise you will warp your front rotors

 

Swap it to a rear disc setup, thats what I got planned for first brake service

Take off both drums and do one side at a time, use the other side as a mirror image of the side you are working on. if you get stuck or forget where a piece goes. or take a picture

 

Waste of time and a lot of money with no return.

I had zero issues. Maybe take off the rear Leafs. Sounds like your lifted to high for the cables. They don't stretch lol
