    An engine bay in AZ is much hotter than one in AK.

    Coolant runs about 203, so the air coming through the radiator will be cooler than that.
    Hottest area will be the exhaust manifolds, but the engine cover and sheetmetal surrounding the engine will be 200 or lower.

    Between 200 and 225* (top of hood after running) is what I have seen in the summer time out here.

    FWIW, It seems the Jeeps happy temp is right at 200*, whereas the Tacoma seemed to run from 185* in the winter, to around 195-205 in the summer.

    What i'm doing is wrapping up some wires that connect into the headlights.
    I think the guy that installed my headlights about 6 months ago used a cheap, or non heat resistant, tape that melted all the sticky stuff right off.

    I want to get it all wrapped up tight again before I get condensation in the housing.

    Once warmed up, I've never seen mine below 198.
    It's typically 203 cruising straight and level, drops to 198 climbing a hill with the AC on... go figure.
