There are rare instances when I still do. But overall, I'm driving much more respectably and getting slightly better mpg's.

ABS is not new it has been on aircraft for over 60 years the sensors read rotational speed if they do not match it manipulates the pressure to keep them all rotating at the same speed. A sliding tire has no traction. The pulse you feel is the brakes engaging and releasing until equilibrium is achieved it does not apply pressure you do it just modulates it. The traction and yaw control is something different all together apples and oranges.

I see what you are saying. Maybe mine just had a momentary glitch in the system... twice. The second time it locked my wheels up I ended up having an altercation with a pole that marks the side of the highway. Causing 3000+ worth of damage between body work on passenger side, new steering components, and a new rim.

I learned to drive in 1959 on an old Ford farm truck I have been through drum brakes that get wet and took you off the road to disk front breaks that shook your teeth loose until people figured out how to make them work right. Then came the European cars that had things like ABS brakes and air bags 20 years before the rest of the world realized that was a good thing. This is progress you all have i pads I grew up with a phone you actually had to dial and did not take messages or take pictures. Yes to this day I can stop a 40 year old truck in the snow but I still prefer my ABS.

I do agree with you OZ but it's what we have I just do my best to stop with as light a pedal effort I can. Even the high line cars/trucks do take longer to stop with your foot down enough to activate the ABS good snow tires help.

I think this is why I never have a problem with my abs in the snow. I never just stomp and hold on the brake pedal. And the fact I have duratrac because those work great in the snow. I only press to what is necessary and if I feel the abs kicking in i let off brake and reapply light pressure. But there is always the 5% freak out moments that it is just instinct to stomp the pedal and then you are screwed.

Had mine go off unexpectedly the other day for the first time on a slight curve with a constant speed of about 30 MPH. Dry conditions and about 5 MPH under the speed limit. Right front wheel seemed to lock up slightly, VSC beep went off, and wanted to push wide until I let off the gas pedal. Took me by surprise to be quite honest as it has never done this at this location before. Turned the truck around and went through the same section, same speed, same conditions, with the same result three different times to make sure. There was no loose gravel on the road (that I could see) and as stated before conditions were completely dry.

The only thing that I have changed on my truck is the tires to mud terrain tires but they are still stock size just different pattern. I travel this section of road often and on these set of tires but never have had this occur.

I certainly don't claim to be a professional race car driver like the OP but I drove a Tiller Truck on the Firedept for 10 years before being promoted to Captain so I've got a pretty good sense of vehicle control.

I've been in a Union Pacific Haz Mat Tank Car School in Colorado for the last week so I will go back out one day next week and see if I can get it to go off again. Until then I just told my wife to be careful of this curve if she drives the truck. :notsure:

I just have to chime in and tell you guys thanks for the smile. The first few pages of this this thread made me laugh out loud more than once. Trust me, I needed that. Thanks fellas.

I have a recently lifted 2012. So far the VCS is behaving the same as before the lift. Yes, occasionally when I push the truck with a heavy foot around dirt corners the VCS objects. But it does not push me wide, it just shuts me down and the truck calms down very quickly. In general no, I don't like it especially in snow. However it has corrected me at HWY speeds when I made a mistake coming down I70 with my children in the truck. Yeah...so you can imagine I'm not fully opposed to the system.

Winter may bring another opinion but like OZ-T said, in the winter I frequently disable the VCS upon start-up when driving locally. It's way more consistent and fun.

Since my lift I've only been on a legit trail once and the VCS did not behave abnormally. Only once? I know...Mother nature has been seriously fucking with my town recently so I've been "slightly" busy caring for my family. Hopefully my VCS system wont become a problem in the future.

Cheers and thanks for the humor.

    ^^^

When your VSC " objects " on corners offroad , is there a beeping and an ABS like brake pulse or just a cut in power ?

ABS fires and the throttle is cut. I don't recall any beeping.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what would have made mine suddenly activate out of curiosity?

    Interesting

When traction control kicks on to the extent that the ABS pulse is felt , the VSC beeps

Throttle can be cut without the beep , but in my experience does not trigger the ABS pulse

    Haha!

You know what?... Tire pressure is a good start. Didn't even cross my mind. I've got to rotate my tires this week so I'll give everything a good once over and check everything under the truck again. Thanks for the tip! Never even thought about that.

That may be it also. The only thing is I've been though this section many times after the tire swap with no issues. Not saying your wrong just seems weird it decided to show up out of the blue.
