I'm not sure if it's a hard and fast rule that Passenger tires are D's and LTs are E's...but passenger tires are made for lighter cars under less strenuous conditions.

 

see i want a D rated tire in an LT is that possible in 285 70 17 i have seen it in 285 75 17 but not the size i want.

 

Not according to Nitto specs, but the P, D, E ratings are all simply load ratings. Our trucks do not require an LT or a D/E rating.

You will be prefectly fine with those Nitto TG P rated 285/70/17's.
I have them in P265/70/17 and don't have any damage to the sidewalls from offroading.

Yes, the tread is the same in P rated as LT rated on all sizes of the Nitto TG.

 

That seems like a good price for that size especially with free delivery. You will have to call around locally for install prices though because it varies. Yes, they will have to take out the TPMS then mount it all on the new rims, some places around here charge a fee for installing TPMS. I don't recall what my labor charges were.

D rated in a P tire?? You sure about that cause letter load ratings are only for LT tires and the 117S is a P rated tire. Also the rating is no longer relative to the ply rating, but rather to the load range. Tires no longer come in 4,6,8,10 plies but are now 2 plies and sometimes 3.

i also noticed that the P rated and the LT tire have diff. tread depths P is .42 and 3 is .52
How hard will it make my truck ride with E RATED.

 

That's not much of a difference to matter to me.

My opinion is it will make it a very rough and noticable ride, but lots of people have them and like them. Just depends what you like, do you want the 'ride of a real truck'. My bf has E rated tires cause he tows a lot, the ride quality sucks IMO.

The P are cheaper, hold up just fine to moderate offroading and have a better ride quality.

It all comes down to what you want and why after knowing all the proper info to make an educated decision.

search a little more cuz i was going to go with P but i switched to LT cuz P wears really fast accordind to my research...

 

they only make my size of 285 70 17 in an with an LT in a E rated tire tho right??

I'm still waiting for people to post up the miles they have gotten from the Nitto's....mine seem to be wearing slowly and evenly ..how fast is really fast?
