    I just changed my oil yesterday (takes 10 minutes, and five of that is getting the tools out and cleaning up) but after having read this thread I crawled under my truck just now to see how easy it would be to mistake the transmission pan for the oil pan.

    After looking at it I can see how this might happen. Coming from two previous Toyota 4WD pickups, both of which had to have the skid plates removed before you could access the oil drain plug, I guess I just started looking under the skid plate when it was time for the first oil change on my '06. The oil drain plug is sort of hidden though, versus the transmission plug, which is out in the open. In fact, as I access it from the front I never actually see it but just get the socket on by feel.

    toyota atf recommended but not needed...

    theres a few youtube vids on how to refill.

    I remember reading this thread over a year ago(friends dad did same thing back in 08). I have 150k with stock fluid...erhmm, uhmm, ill get to it soon.
