yea fuel filters are nice to replace every 80-100k

 

Thank you! Everything matched up just fine for me, the only thing I had to do was drill two holes in the bumper but that was pretty easy. What wasn't lining up for you?

 

I had to change my fuel pump/float recently because I would be sitting still and it would fall to E then bounce back up to F randomly. Think the wiring went bad or something. Was about $160 to replace.

 

Well I am due since its at 91k

 

Need to change my fuel filter too... Pretty sure it's never been changes at 128,000 miles.

 

Hey guys I have been reading about first gens that at 100K you have to replace a timing belt or cam chain? how can you tell if its due or needs to be done? I bought my tacoma 2-3 months ago and it had 105k and now has 108k so its around that time. Will the motor make a knock sound or something to define that it needs to be done, the only reason I ask is because maybe the previous owner had it done already.

 

There are no real signs of the timing belt going out on you. One day it just will. It's recommended to get the timing belt, water pump, and thermostat changed every 90,000 miles. I didn't get mine done until 119,000 miles.

The thing about it is they could last over 200,000 miles or only last 100,000 miles, so better to get it done so you're not stranded on the side of the road.

 

Find out if the previous owner had it changed. Or look up your VIN # with Toyota and see if it was done at a dealership. If it hasnt been done, then i would do it.

Do you have the V6? The V6 has a timing belt

I'm attempting to change my timing belt but i cant get the damn thing on! the tensioner is pinned but its just too tight. Is there some trick to it that all the tutorials don't show?

 

Thanks guys for the replys, yes its a V-6. would I just call toyota and have them run it for me or can I go on their site to run it?

a piece of wire, I replaced it and it was pinned when I got it.

 

I pinned mine with an allen wrench. I guess that wouldn't cause this problem though. What kind of belt? is it the same size as the old one (count the teeth).
