Tires... how do I get a bad ass look without needing a lift?

Ok,

So I'm looking to get out of my stock tires, I need something a little more rugged for the montana winters, and hunting excursions. I'm looking for a tire that has an aggressive off road look, but won't be too loud on the highway... Also is there any way to mess with the size of the tires without rubbing or needing a lift? I have 265/65/17's on there right now, I need all of you expert advice, cause I don't know shit... thanks guys

265/70/17 mud terrains, BFG is a fav., but i have 265/70/16 goodyear MTR's. You can also look at A/T, ether BFG, GeneralTire A2, Firestone, or whatever looks good. Just get a tire thats a bit wider, but same diamiter.

 

assuming you're keeping stock wheels, a 265/70/17 is a good choice of size. I'd reccommend the Goodyear DuraTracs if you run mostly highway but want a tough look and decent off road performance to back it up. I've also heard they perform admirably in the snow which sounds important to your use as well. These are going to be my next set of tires(though a tad bigger).

 

I'd go with the Toyo M/T's, nice and quiet on the roads but mean as hell in the mud!

 

Yep go with the wrangler duratrac's - they're rated for snow ( snowflake emblem ) def needed in chicago flash winters

thanks for the tips guys... looks like I've got some more research to do... does any one know if there has been any rubbing problems by going with 265/70/17's with stock suspension. I talked to a guy at the toyota dealership and he "strongly discourages" that, saying that it will rub and ruin my suspension, is that true or is that just standard dealership/liability b.s.

 

he's full of it. Search it out, that size tire will fit no prob on the stock suspension with 0 rubbing

Here's my truck with 265/70/17's,GoodYear Duratrac's.......This is with 2.5 inches of lift,however,I put this size tire on before the lift and had absolutely no issues.It is the consensus here that this is the largest tire you can run stock.With this size,your sidewall will be .5" taller,making your entire tire 1" taller.The width does not change.It's a great way to give your truck a beefier look.

Thank you......After the first day,I would have said that they didn't make a sound.A couple of weeks in and now I can hear a slight song.It's very minimal.

 

Slap on a set of M/T tires and a set of 1.25" wheel spacers and you'll be set.
