Arctic Trucks Toyota Tacoma

Just ran across this! If I remember correctly, artic trucks is the company that modified the Toyota Hilux for Top Gear's North Pole trip. Anyway, just a cool truck, I want to see it in action

Its definitely badass but why would they 3 link the rear then only do a mid travel kit in the front

 

Wonder what the brake mods entail to run 15s? Also need a cmc for that i assume would like to see wheel wells with wheels and tires off

 

It looks like they just have enough offset to clear the brakes.

tripple bypasses and coilovers on the front.. yet they dont gusset the spindles??
and those arent stock ucas? but they are balljoint? wonder if they did that for a reason.

 

I believe i recall one of these breaking a suspension component on one of the discovery channel shows.

On the converted Hilux they had to relocate the front strut mounting location forward on the frame to allow the larger tires to be at full lock without hitting the doors when they're open. I would imagine the Tacoma has similar issues leading to not so ideal suspension configuration by dirt standards.

It's also worth pointing out that in the snow you don't really need LT. The converted Hilux has less travel than a stock Tacoma if I remember correctly, but those huge tires make up for that when they're at low pressure.

 

Need more details on the rear sus setup on this.. Plan to copy/run a similar setup.

Anyone in Iceland or the "Artic" that can take some spy shots?
