    Trail gear never replied to my email, so I called them just now. The guy I talked to didn't have a clue as to what the sound might be. He said he has never heard of it. Also said I should pull the tranny back out and inspect the flywheel, clutch plate, and pressure plate
    Edit: I found the paper. Under Diagnosing Bearing Noises, #2 reads:
    2. Pilot Bearing or Bushing
    A. With the engine running, depress the clutch fully
    B. select first gear
    C. Release the clutch. If the squeal is heard at the point of the clutch taking up, then the pilot bearing is faulty. In the event it is a bronze bush, it will indicate lack of lubrication on the I.D. of the bush. If the bush has been lubricated on the I.D., there is a greater possibility that the O.D. of the bush is undersized and worn. The noise then caused by the bush spinning in the end of the crank. If the new pilot bush has not been pressed in evenly, this could also result in the bush spinning, which could cause a grumbling or squealing noise. Pilot bush noises are more apparent when the engine and transmission are cold (i.e. in the morning)

    Monte, I've got a popping sound coming from my front right strut, everything is tight (i'll check torque when the torque wrench comes tomorrow).

    The popping only happens when it flexes, either up or down.

    Could it be coils hitting? I parked the truck with the left front corner up on a small mound, and pushed down on the front right, i couldn't hear anything, but i noticed that the coils where touching when compressed and not touching when not under load.

    Your coils are progressive so normal for them to touch.

    Your not the first to mention the piping noise though. I have seen it posted before and actually I have heard it myself from mine. I only heard it actually after I lifted mine and like you only when it would flex.

    I have yet to figure out what it is though :eek:

    I am curious as to if it's due to the fixed top plate of the struts we have and it's the lower bushing perhaps.

    Or a ball joint.

    Either way. Mine has been doing it for years and nothing has exploded...on that side..so :notsure:

    That's good to know, thanks.

    How much did you have to flex to get it to pop?
    Mine pops when i go up and down our driveway, which isn't very steep, but it's off camber and going from a incline to a steeper incline.

    Look at build!
    I believe on mine its the axle popping.. but been wheeling it for a few years with it clicking and popping and no issues thus far.. OEM axle ftmfw! it started after the boot got a cut in it way after lift so I don't think its the strut, but may be I guess... Mine also does it in the driveway with very minimal flex but enough to cycle the suspension up and down

    Yea mine didn't need much flex. Usually just a bump.

    I guess it could be the axles..be kinda odd.
