No shit!!! We had a freakin deluge down here today! I'd say about 1.5" inches in about 30 minutes. Flooded intersections...I love watching people hauling ass, see a flooded street, SLAM their brakes (you know, to get them as hot as possible), and then plow into the water. Warped rotors anybody???

 

Basement...? Now I'm curious.

it hasnt let up on the rain here since friday until about 3 hours ago. Hell, even this weird blue thing in the air was viable. I think it was the sky? lol

NGP antenna, or standard. I want to either mount in the back corner of the bed, or mount front corner. But as you know...plastic. Im tired of having to shimmy a ground cable to make mine work. A NGP would/should solve that. I only say this because im not a fan of the brackets ive seen for our trucks.

BUT.. i may just get a spring mount and 4' stick and drill that into the corner of my RF bumper. hmmm lol

 

NGPs usually don't work all that great from what I've heard in the past
Back corner isn't all that great, front bumper would be better, but still going to be poor.
Front corner can work if you properly run a ground, which I *think* involves running a lead to the other side or other corner... I really am not an expert with that.
The hood lip bracket I've seen done, but really pinches on the coax.

Really, your two options come down to a hole in the roof, a magnet mount, or the Relentless mount.
I've had excellent results with my Relentless mount
I know Penguins_CC runs a magnet mount on top of a toolbox and it sounded fine on my end.

Over on the GitOut forum, they are talking about ditching CB and testing GMRS instead because there's so many people with crappy CB setups. In 2014 the license for GMRS gets dropped as well.

 

thanks mike. The RF hood mount may be the way then. Might as well get both sides and run duals.

I kinda want a GMRS every time i look into them. Just the downside is the 7-8 open channels for communication. Which really isnt a bad i guess..
Only thing keeping me from the GMRS or even HAM is knowone i really trail with use those.


You said the license gets dropped, as in the fee or the need for a license?

 

Duals are pretty much just for looks and can actually degrade your performance. If you do manage to get it set up right, it's gonna be a PITA.

GMRS Fee/need for license. It used to be something like $25/year, by January the fee and license go away.

GMRS radios are sold in pairs... if the tests from gitout turn out well, it's a pretty easy alternative. Pair of radios for about $80 and no install.
I don't remember how many channels, but there's side banding as well which gives some more.

I was trying to slam on the HAM test but found out the radio I have is VHF only and I'd need another radio AND antenna. The only people I've seen run HAM is jeverich and some guys from NWOverland, so I'm putting that all on the back burner while I take care of some more pressing issues.

On another note, I have a slow leak in a tire. Wife and I decided I was getting new tires for Christmas (in oct/nov). What size should I go..? 265/75/16 or 255/85/16? Keep in mind I don't want to spend a grip of cash, but what would you guys think on sizes?

Ah! I messed up almost exactly the same way with the one shot I did take. Granted it was only a 5 point. Shit, there's so much more wildlife out east. How is the wolf problem progressing out there? Hopefully not hitting the elk population yet...

 

their are hard wired units you can install. Not the bubble pack versions you buy from a store. thats what i would like, less traffic and the chance of running more watts for a stronger/farther signal.

Oh and i would run duals for the purpose of CB and GMRS if possible. What i have read is as long as their is more then 12 to 18 inches of space between the two, you are running low odds of interference.
