what are the trails like near fairbanks. I'm about to be stationed there pretty soon and I'm trying to figure out what mods I'm gonna want to make it alittle more fun.

I am a Civil Engineer. From what I hear from my ME friends is there are jobs for MEs, but mostly in HVAC and the Oil Companies.

As far as the commuting... Anchorage has "the valley" that is kinda suburbanish. I know people who live in Palmer or Wasilla to the North of Anchorage or Girdwood to the south and commute to work every day. Both about 40 miles from town.

Hope that answers some questions :)

And to answer another question about snow.... Worst I have seen it:

    c840ecb4_b7360c39ef902ac4ba9e52639850fc2dcf2f17f7.jpg

That was actually in Canada... just North of Haines, AK though.

Stick with AT&T. The only other national carrier up here is Verizon I believe. And I don't even know if they're open yet.

4WD is nice on a few days of the year. I've kept mine in 2 for most of the year. Get some good winter tires, throw some weight in the bed, and don't put the gas pedal through the floor and you should be good.

    I'm currently running studded Hakkapellitas.

The only reason they've got studs is I got a hell of a deal from an Air Force guy who was transferring out of state. With 4WD, the locker and all the other toys the OR has, I'll likely be going with a studless tire when these wear out. We'll see when that time comes.
