    :D:D:DHi everyone,

I'm proud to say that I will be buying a Tacoma! The thing is, I don't know whether to get a 4x4 or not. I don't think I will need it. I do mountain biking and go off-roading with an RZR. Is the 4x4 worth the extra money? I also have to keep in mind that my insurance price will go up. Also, my buddies are all Tacoma owners and told me not to get the TRD package since i'll end up changing the tires.

I'm currently interested in this truck:
How's the price on it? Do you guys think it's priced right? Or over priced?

Let me know what you guys think :D

Ps. I should have gotten a Tacoma since day 1!!!!!!!!!!

why not get a TRD that makes no sense. the TRD Off Road comes with an electronic locker and the TRD sport comes with a lmited slip differential. i think if you want best of both worlds get a 2WD TRD Off-Road package that way atleast you'll have the locker. and you can always sell your old wheels/tires on CL or here

Get a 4x4. I bought a prerunner and ended up swapping it in at a loss for a 4x4 a year later. Get the TRD offroad. Its worth it.

Sick truck dude! I want the 4x4 just because I go to glamis a lot and don't want to be getting stuck. I also picture myself 4x4'ing in the mud or somewhere like that.. hmmm I just got out of a stupid bmw and I was trying to spend less but the 4x4 is pricey

If you are talking about insurance going up because it's 4x4 it went up about $1.50 per month for me. No biggie. Just get a quote through your insurance.

I had a Prerunner and ending up trading it for a 4x4. I am getting into mountain biking, go snowboarding and like to take road trips so knowing I have the 4x4 to get me through a utah snow storm is nice!

I also took it off-roading recently to get to a mine and I was impressed. I prefer the TRD myself since I don't plan to get into serious stuff until it's paid off. I can see why some Tacoma buyers choose to not buy the TRD so they upgrade the parts themselves with even better parts.

I mountain bike and ski, and im getting into offroading now. You get a lot of features with the offroad. Different suspension, seats, locker, atrac, entune, nicer wheels and tires, and a whole lot more. I got the TRD offroad just for the locker and seats. I replaced every piece of suspension and wheels and tires but it was still worth it to me.

for a few extra or maybe a grand you can get a new one but if you like that one its up to you. tacos have excellent resale value so used market is kinda high

There are two TRD packages. Three if you count the TX pro. The one I have on my old truck was the TRD sport. This package is all about looks. Its color matched bumpers, stiffer suspension, fake hood scoop, entune, and different seats.

The TRD offroad has a locker, atrac, sport seats, and entune.

That is fantastic, but let's not confuse Dan... He is just learning the difference between the two TRD packages... and that all Tacoma models can be 2WD or 4WD. He wants and will use the 4WD, and (for Dan): a Prerunner is 2WD (TRD Off Road means it has a locker and sits on the same suspension as 4WDs do).

Correct. Besides his insurance more than likely only increasing very slightly, it would come down to finding a 4wd for the right price, or using a 2wd TRD Off Road to its fullest potential and saving some cash.

BUT I don't think anyone has ever honestly regretted buying a 4wd, as long as it fit into their budget.

I am sure you will be very happy with it. My friends and family are probably pretty annoyed with me by now, lol. I can't stop talking about my new DCSB 4x4 TRD sport and the potential adventures in the future. I really debated with the TRD sport and TRD off-road but didn't see myself getting into serious off-roading just yet so TRD sport works for now. I will upgrade parts if and when the time comes.
