Rpm limits

Does anyone know what kind of RPMs our 5vz-fe's can get to without tearing themselves apart? The only thing I can find anywhere is how to get idle RPMs back to normal.. Thanks

 

3.4 has a rev limiter around 5500-6000 rpm. I wouldnt stay on the limiter too long....

 

But is it safe for 3-5 seconds?

 

Why in gods name are you wanting to be on the limiter for 3-5 seconds?

while it could withstand high revs for a few seconds, there's really no reason to push the truck that hard, for that long.

 

It's got a limiter for a reason... to LIMIT it from hurting itself

Why would you want to go higher? You are not gaining any extra hp only loosing at that range.

If you want 6-9k rpm, get a honda vtec

you don't gain any more power going any higher. Google dyno charts.

only way you'd want to is after you put a forged 3vz crank in, forged rods and pistons, turbo it and custom ecu and head work.

so about another 10-14 grand into the motor.

well that was funny. I feel bad pushing her to 4,000 rpm, I cannot imagine making her go 5,500-6,000 rpm's... that's just plain stupid

 

its a truck your power is going to be mid band

 

i have to hit 4 on the hwy to pass people or go up hills.

but once you hit 4.5k..power runs out.

 

Yeah I know what you mean, btw driving over the mountain pass earlier in the week... well, I found out what you meant about the highway hills power loss with 33s

 

Just be sure to film it and post it when you do test the limiter.

I have, usually when i'm merging, but several times i've just pushed the pedal to the floor to get around traffic.

But i don't want to raise the redline, just because i won't gain any power, and i don't want to hurt the motor.
