I should get mine out and running this weekend, same goes for the snow blower.


I have the transfer switch. It was expensive, but pretty easy to connect. Now if I loose power, its extremely easy to run most of the house. Hurricane Sandy screwed us over pretty good, now we are overprepared.

 

I'm using simple, common switches. Transfer switches aren't necessary for most applications.

 

Mike what size wire did you run? I am gonna use alum due to length of run and prob a 8ga. The generator has a 30A-125/250VAC so I will wire a 30A outlet in an outdoor waterproof box. This will be more efficient as well as give me a option for the welder and plasma cutter

 

The extension cord I bought is 10 ga. I believe. The wire in the house is 12 ga. and is just simple pig tails for now. Eventually, I will have a 12 ga. pigtail powering my makeshift 'box', 2 switches and, from there, a 12 ga. wire going to the outlet for the fridge and another 12 ga. wire going to the boiler switch.

 

Ok that sounds about right then cause alum should be a size larger so 8 will do me

 

I'm not familiar with aluminum wire. My generator only pushes 4000W peak and, with what I'm running, it's not a constant load. I didn't do any calculations other than to make sure I won't overload the generator. If the boiler and the fridge both kick on at once, I'll barely be pushing the normal operating output of the generator.

What do use guys use to get rid of scratches ? Any recommendations ?
I'd be using my buffer if it matters

I really like Meguiars products. I've been using Ultimate Compound but I believe there are some products that are specifically for black or dark colored paints that work really well.

I just tried using some of that but it didn't do anything .

 

If the scratches are too deep, no compound will get it out. What kind of stuff are you trying to correct?

 

Mostly just light scratches but there are some that are deep.
