So do you not think the plastic is good enough? Anyone else having doubts on quality?

It's my understanding that snorkels are not 100% waterproof. Their initial development was for dust, not water. Additional steps can be taken to make them much more water "friendly," but will never be perfect. For example the intake box where the filter goes has holes in the bottom of it.

I would go with this one over safari simply because it is actually make for our trucks and not for a Hilux.

i have RTV at every joint along the plumbing to help...

i also covered the holes in the airbox with RTV

intake i think i'm in good shape for water (snow buildup in the hat is a different story), but the rest of the engine bay/electronics are still on my to-do list to waterproof/resist

not many areas where i have to worry about the snorkel for fording deep water, but i do see dusty conditions a lot and the snorkel does help with that...especially when combined with a pre-filter

What people don't realize is all the other stuff besides your engine that would need to be made water resistant/proof. I don't even know what that list entails.

Here is a photo of all of the parts before I began the installation. You can see the mid-tube. I would compare it to some sort of bulk ducting tube you would by from a home improvement store. I brainstormed for alternatives. I tried fitting PVC pipe and Silicone tube for this section but in the end Wil at Sierra Expedition said just use what it came with and I should be fine. I trust him, so I did. Also the 45 degree polymer pieces do not flex much with the hose clamps provided so you have to pretty much rely on a healthy dose of RTV at each connection including the connection to your stock air box. It's been almost 5 months since I have installed it and I'd like to go in and verify everything is holding up but I'm just not in the mood to pay $30.00 in plastic clips to do it so I prey to the car gods that it's all good for now.

Originally I did plug up the holes in the bottom of my air box but after everything was done, I decided the holes were more useful for draining any water that might get in.

I come from a racing back ground of building 1,200 WHP Mitsubishi Evolutions. I guess I'm just used to not taking shortcuts.

Edit: Added a photo from Outlaw trail last weekend. You can get an idea of the how the snorkel looks but it's not an ideal picture.

I ordered one of these snorkels August 1st, 2013 from Rocky Road Outfitters. A couple days short of 5 months later and I still haven't received it.

Expeditioneers imports them and I don't think anyone else does. So when I call RRO asking for updates, they call Mark @ Expeditioneers. Only problem is, no one can reach Mark. Messages have been left with no call backs. Pretty terrible customer service, especially since i've been VERY patient!

Anyone know whats going on here?

    holiday vacation?

all imports come in from Australia, so there might be some production delays with some shipment delays that could be the cause of the slow down..

5 months seems a bit much though..

Well I called mark again today and actually got to speak with him. He said that he never received the invoice from RRO and RRO claims that they sent over the invoice when the order was placed. Not sure what happened to the voice messages that were left for Mark. Obviously someone dropped the ball.

I'm not trying to make a big deal about this, i just want others to know that its probably a good idea to order directly from Expeditioneers if this is the snorkel you want. Good news is that Mark has snorkels in stock, hes shipping one out to me in the next few days!

If you guys have any questions and can't get ahold of Mark for some reason, feel free to let me act as the go between. I'm a dealer for them :)

I can assure you he's a busy man, but busy bringing in awesome products designed directly for our trucks.

Sorry for reviving a dead thread, but...

A few pages back Expeditioneers mentioned a discount for TW members. Anyone know if there's a discount code to use on their website?

Any idea if they do a black friday sale?

That's a bummer. I guess I don't need to buy one of their products too badly.
