    I found a source for white oak and they will mill it for me. I can make simple cuts and sand the wood but milling it is another story.

    I do have an inexpensive portable table saw and a chop saw.

    What type of finish should I use on the wood to protect it from the elements or can it stay outside as is? Keep in mind that the DC metro area is highly polluted.

    Do you make house calls. LOL You have been busy today. Working on the 4th load of laundry now and getting ready to move a pile of lumber and bricks at church. Or at least start on the pile. Will probably do some more tomorrow after I come back home from a lumber yard.

    It will weather to a gray if you don't do anything. It weathers nicely. If you want to keep the look, and or change the color with stain, i would recommend the General Finishes Exterior 450. It is water based and holds up well. Just be sure to get a few decent coats on.

    :( No. I thought I might be able to sneak into a couple of spots but they've even closed the trailheads that start on public land and go into the park. The only exception for people getting into Yelly right now are the residents of Cooke City, just outside of the park in the very NE corner. Going through the park is their only way in/out of town in the winter. They can't stop along the way though, have to go straight through

    You're such a good housewife ;)
