Mike, it's funny you should bring something like this up. My wife has a Honda Accord that, according to the manual and the oil cap, should take 0W-20. I did the same thing, went to the dealership to buy their oil. I got all the way up to the Service Manager, everyone told me to use 5W-20 in the car. I'm using that oil, made a note in the service records of the guys I spoke with and went on my way. Never know why certain manufacturers do what they do :notsure:

Lol I have gotten so used to using the key to unlock the doors . I won't even fix the stupid power locks .
I'd just take the light out of the dash and call it a day . They should only put the sensors in cars that women buy

Same here, I'm used to the key now and reaching in from the front to unlock the rear door (that one I might fix, I found an $80 replacement for the rear door from Rock Auto).

Might just do that, or I did find a write up to actually confuse the ECU into thinking all sensors are there and working properly :D

I don't think that the Honda 0W-20 is anything special. I had a Civic that used it and I used Mobil 1. I'm surprised that a dealer would tell you to substitute 5W-20. I'm sure it would be a moot point in the summer, but I would use the 0W-20 in the winter. Dealer service departments can vary greatly in quality. The service manager, and especially the shop foreman, set the tone for everything, and that seems to make the largest difference between really great shops and mediocre ones.

I have a V6 and use Mobil 1 5W-30. I thought that the 4-cylinders used 0W-20. If not, then Mobil 1 would be an excellent choice in the correct viscosity.

It's probably not anything special. End of the day, it's still 20 weight once the engine is up and running. The 0 vs. 5 would probably help it out a bit in the winter on those cold mornings.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma

I like the 5qt + adding a 1/2qt. I buy the 5qt and 1qt and use the 1qt to wet the filter. I pour a little bit into the center and let the paper ambsorb it. This way I don't dry start it.

That plus the 5+ jug is short of the 5.5 required and it is $10 cheaper at Walmart than Autozone.

I will be doing the same as you over the winter. Some used Icon's will be available. I think I'm going new though. Whose got them the cheapest right now ?

I'm too cheap for that. I buy the 5 quart (or is it liter?) jug and put only that in the engine. I make no attempt to bring the oil up to the "full" line on the dipstick. I carry a spare quart in one of the bed cubbies just in case I need it, but I'll bet that same quart will be there when I sell the truck. My engine doesn't burn or leak oil, and the level never goes down from halfway between the marks between oil changes.

Black electrical tape mod. It's easy, I'm sure you could do it.

I don't want to do that though. If I disable it, I'll either yank the LED or run the wire that confuses the ECU into thinking everything is A-OK.

About 95k miles. I burn about 1/2 - 3/4 of a quart between oil changes and it hasn't exactly had what you'd call a tough life by any means.

Just tried dr. Color chip on a few small chips. Pretty awesome stuff. Not a perfect coverup, but the fact that there is no paint blob makes it looks 100 times better than touch up pens.

I really like their setup. I was surprised how easy it actually was (I know the youtube commercials always make shit look easy).
