Does anyone actually like chrome?

^^ chrome is just tacky and usually overused. I can't wait to get a non chrome rear bumper.

 

I like the chrome that came on my truck. The blacked out look made the leap from cool cars to commuter Hyundais and 13 year old Chevy Tahoes, that means it has officially run its course. If it's a poorly done DIY job that started chipping or peeling it looks way shittier than if the vehicle was just left alone. Chrome or aluminum-finish wheels hide scratches better than black wheels. The look of tastefully-applied chrome on a car or truck that's not styled too wacky will age really well. For example, 1985 4Runner:

 

OP's not talking about adding chrome goodies, just leaving what came stock alone.

How is off roading any different with a painted bumper/grille surround vs. chrome?

I like the chrome bumper and grill on my taco. I personally thinkk a silver streak actually looks good with it.

 

I think the chrome on the silver and spruce mica look good. Otherwise color match

x2. I've seen a ton of silver tacomas with the chrome still on and I think it looks good... Like going from chrome to silver seems next to pointless IMO.. haha

^^ I don't know what they were thinking with the front end on the new tundras. Not a fan of the look.

 

I'm not a fan of the whole new 2014 tundras period. Ugly ugly ugly. It's a mix of a tundra, f150, frontier, chrome, audi, and a whale that was designed buy a person while on meth and pot.

He upgraded a little.

 

I left the grill surround and bumper chrome on my OR. All badges and emblem were plasti dipped. Don't get me wrong, I like the monochromatic look just as much as the next guy. But, a little chrome gives the taco a nice contrast too!
