x99999! only bitches need side steps! i hated all the ones i have tried to use on Tacoma's, the best ones that are kinda ok are the N fab, but still don’t like them on a stock truck. heck getting in a taco with 6” and 35” i would not have side steps, just hop up in.

    nice!

lol. thats my plain, been keeping my eye out on CL for welder, and working some stuff out before i apply for a welding class thats about a year long.

yeah sliders are the new steps, and now B.A.M.F has an option for bolt on steps that can be taken off for when on the trails so the don’t get hung up on stuff.

lol, it is a long class, but teaches everything about welding and all the safety stuff that you need to know and do. if i can get a welder and a few other tools, may make a few small things while in school, but not sure yet. than when i get out and can work full time or something may start working on building stuff in my spare time and than maybe full time. not sure about it all right now to far a head to really plain that stuff out.

Went to Southeast Overland, Steve of course is a great guy, very knowledgeable. I picked up a couple quick fits for my future shovel, axe and fire extinguisher.

Also picked up a Hi-lift mount, Gonna wait till i get the axe, shovel, and fire extinguisher to mount everything inside the bed.

Also got a couple quotes for a future purchase this month... :spy: #tepui

Thanks bud, she's coming along well i suppose. :p

After talking to steve @ Southeast Overland, i figure i may as well have it just in case something were to ever happen. I like being prepared for stuff.

Once i figure out a good place for the big fire extinguisher in the bed i'll get that one too.

yeah i do too! one thing you may think about is taking the plastic storage from behind the seats out, i did and gained quite a bit more storage. may want to just keep softer stuff back their. but even with a extra hitch and stuff the noise it not to bad. i got some pic in my build. i know you use to have a tool box, for extra stuff, but with not having it it maybe something you would find useful.

Yeah, they are pretty quality stuff, they hold my axe and shovel with ease(they are rated at 20lbs apiece. Super easy to install... Just gotta get the ballz to drill into the bed haha.

One #10 screw and the washer they provide and you're set.

For the fire extinguisher i had to modify it because my mounting location was thin compared to the bed and one screw wasnt strong enough, added 2 #10 screws to the mount and i was butter.

I'd reccomend them to anyone honestly who wanted to mount something small (shovel, axe ect) in the bed.

Im gonna get another one for my bigger fire extinguisher so that's saying something.

New question: Is there a way to run the wire from the antenna to the cab cleanly?

I ran mine underneath the truck into one of the holes in the floor, where the tail light harness runs from.

SO i should start looking for a hole in the cab to run the wire through? it's near the bottom right?

The one I used was underneath the drivers seat. Ran the wire through and sealed it up.

agree you will see the rubber seal pieces you can punch hole and feed wire through then just seal the hole...or make smaller hole than gauged wire and its tight around wire

Well... looks like i wont need to do a 4x4 conversion potentially, there's a guy back home selling his toyota pickup on the cheap... :spy:

It could be a great platform for serious wheeling and dealing, and i could learn to drive a stick in the process. Pics to come.

Also, me and Bash Fabrication are working on my sliders and custom bed rack in a couple days. The build is picking up once again. :)

Now, i've gotta study for my damn midterm and write a paper by tomorrow. Procrastination and TW has done me in again.

That's a good call man, SR5 pickups are the shit. If you can afford to build it and maintain it right you can't beat them for a dedicated offroad truck. Lot of guys I wheel with have them. When I have the time and room someday I'd like to build a 1st gen 4runner or pickup.

Yeah, when i go home tomorrow i'll def take pics and get some input before i decide to do it. It'll be a good chance to actually off-road without worrying about how im getting home if something happens, and learning to drive a stick.... Another money pit... :D
