Miles on a 2005 Taco?

I'm looking, and I see that most 2005 Taco's have around 35k miles. Is this alright or should I be worried?

 

Alright for what???? Purchase of a used one? I got my 05 in April of 05. I've got 63,000 miles. 35k for me is a nothing and still new

 

That seems normal to me. On my last truck I put on 90K miles in the first 3 years.

 

So you guys wouldn't be concerned if you purchased it with 35k miles on it already? Yes, I am assuming it will be used, but purchased from a dealer.

 

I would be less concerned about the milege as I would be about the condition. 15,000 miles/year is considered average on a car or truck, so that truck is below average. Check the condition closely. Run a Carfax (history report) http://www.carfax.com/ and/or even take it to an independent mechanic if you feel the need. Most will charge less than $100 to check it out for you. I hate buying used vehicle unless I know the previous owner well. What I have found about the Tacoma is, you can buy a new one for not much more than one that 1 or 2 yrs old...and the financing is easier and you will get a better rate, assuming you have excellent credit. The average mileage for a vehicle is considered to be 20,000 miles a year. So this being a 2005 like mine average for it would be 60,000 miles. I think this is actually decently low, but I would check the month it was made and do the math. At very minimum its average usage would have been 40,000 miles. If you are looking at one that has only 35,000 miles that was only about 1,000 miles a month.

 

Wow, seems that average mileage has gone up! It use to be 15,000 (if you're selling) and 18,000 (if you're buying). Depends on which side of the fence you're on.

20k a year is too much. When I buy used I like to get the thing avg of about 12k year.

 

ye I bought a 2.7l reg cab 4x4 5 speed manual, with 35000miles thing runs mint, but u gotta watch out, cause it could be driven to crap, think about it if you are gonna by a 4x4, did the guy befor you actually use the thing for some off roadin, or was it just a daily driver?

 

i think they ment 20000 kilometers, what we use in canada, or the equivalant is 15000 miles, which is the states end of things!

ur right my bad, its been a long day and my mind is playing tricks on me!

 

I have an 05 and I am at 70K now... BUT I drive about 64 miles a day to work and back. This is my second Taco.. My first was a 95. I still have it and drive that one a lot too. I have 262K and I am the original owner. I just replaced the original clutch at 250K... I have taken care of mine, and have had little issues. (Crossing my fingers as I type)

35k is nothing... As long as the original owner took care of it.

 

I got my 06 in Nov 05. It is at 355xx as of today.

 

My 06 has 38,000 and change, and all is well.

 

I have 34,860 miles on mine, original owner. I just don't drive it much. But it is taken very good care of and I keep it clean, clean....

 

How would I take it in for the TSB's? Do I just tell them that I want the TSB's taken care of, or do I need proof of the TSB?

 

I just took mine in today at a place that hates to work for the customer..... I talked to the guy that don't have a clue and rights your complaints down. Then we went to talk to the Mech. He said he didn't care to see my TSB that he only works from the Customer complaint and if your complaint comes up on the TSB area then they may fix it....But copy down the list of TSBs from another thread and see what you have that is wrong in the way of tSBs and then tell them your complaints, have TSBs as back up so you can fight your case if needed. They said they would do the complete front/back shocks and springs and alignment on Toyota of course the shop and mech will get paid by Toyota company......Mine was very obvious the shocks/springs sucked..Good luck

And if this wouldn't have worked I would have been at another Toy dealership and then callling the 1800 # bitching up and down.......
