    Damn!!

Where did you get your bump stops? I start a new job soon so I think I'm going to go ahead and finish out the rear of my truck like we were talking about a while back

    Yes.... mud sucks.

Went out exploring in the Rio Puerco by myself, as I often do... (It's not a wise thing to do, but that's part of the appeal for me.) Besides, it's been way too long since I took the green dragon out, and I had to make sure the front locker and the 4wd system still functioned properly. :D

As the NM (and CO) guys know there has been quite a bit of rain recently, and since the Rio Puerco is a basin, it has a lot of arroyos that double as trails. As a result of the flooding, the arroyos are very washed out, and hardly recognizable. Many of the trails themselves were washed out and I had to be careful.... It was fun, though.

Theeeeennn I found this towards the bottom of the main wash
    [IMG]

I should have just stuck to the rocks and dirt, but the temptation was too great. :anonymous:

Very stuck. lol and just about a million mosquitos. Nasty, nasty, deceiving, mud......

Of course a winch would have been wonderful, but I had no such luxury. There was a dead tree nearby, so I mad a mini ****** for my hi-lift, and did my best to get some branches under the tires (Smacked my cheekbone pretty well with the hi-lift handle and caused blood due to this floating jack, but it worked.)

    Got even more stuck

Since I was now on the front skid and the rear axle was half buried, subsequent tries to get out resulted in a broked CV axle. :anonymous: bahahahaa

So at that point, about an hour and a half before sunset, I emptied out my school backpack of the useless books and papers and filled it with a gallon of water, some beef jerky, and half eaten bag of cheetos, locked up the truck, and took a little hike. Again, since the Puerco is in a basin, I had zero cell phone reception where I had gotten stuck, so I just climbed the tallest hills I could find. Eventually found one tall enough to make some calls. SgtTaco and Tomtom were both on there way with a strap to pluck me out when a random hummer came down the wash. Flagged him down, he gave me a ride to my truck and hooked up the strap. He got me out after several tries....... barely. Real nice guy. By then it was dark, so we drove back to town together and met my rescue squad on the way back. Decided to just stay at the dune (entrance to trail) a while longer consuming the beer and burgers they brought. (to be clear, I did not partake of the beer. ;) lol) and just BSing before heading home. It was awesome.

I reeeeeally appreciate the willingness to help from of friends and the off-road community in general! Great bunch of people. :)

And now the green dragon has a nice camo job.

Nice! I'm home from work for the foreseeable future so if you get a hankering to go off-roading, let me know.

Local shop called "Desert Rat." I think they only have stores in the SW, but I know you can get my bump stops from many different vendors... Mine are 4.5" Energy Suspension bump stops.

It'll suck if we both get stuck.

I just wanted to type that because it rhymes.
