Getting Frame Replaced...What Else Should I Get Done At The Same Time?

My frame is scheduled to be replaced here in a few weeks...while the truck is completely taken down, what else should I have done?

Supposedly, along with the frame replacement they also will be changing the rear leaf springs, all brake lines, lower a-arms, spare tire carrier with new spare tire. (my spare tire fell off somewhere...kinda crazy that it didn't make a noise at all - it could have killed somebody...I see why they did the recall)

My question is, while there with the truck torn completely apart, what else would you recommend that I replace? I'm planning on asking about a significantly reduced labor rate on a new clutch install and I am considering having a leveling kit installed.

Looks like a spacer lift, most people on here don't recommend them as they deem them unsafe. Bilstens 5100s are what most people use for getting lift/leveling their trucks.

 

^agree. Bilstein 5100's and Eibach springs up front and an AAL in the rear. If you don't mind me asking, why are you getting all that re-done on your truck? Seems like they're replacing everything except the engine!

 

Of course I'd like some 5100's, I just don't have the coin to do it. I was hoping for a very basic leveling kit. I'll have to look into why some people deem them unsafe.

All that is being done for free as well as the frame. I'm just curious what else is recommended.

 

Nothing wrong with free! I've got Bilstein 5100's and Eibach springs with the ToyTec AAL in the rear and highly recommend it. I love it.

 

I recently got mine back from a frame replacement. I had the fuel filter replaced (2.7 P.I.A.), rear shocks, complete front shock/ strut assy's, engine and tranny mounts and clutch, t/o, pilot bearing.

 

How much was it to do a clutch job seeing as it was 10x easier to do at that point, did they give a discount?

 

They charged me $97.00 for labor.

 

I had my cab mount bushings replaced when the frame was replaced on my truck.

Well, I just bit the bullet and bought the ToyTec Ultimate kit and Total Chaos UCA's. With shipping, I spent $1818.29....

Oh well, all new frame now all new suspension.
